Looking for some buying advice - Virpil Constellation Delta's or VKB Kosmosima's

I'm looking for a bit of buying advice, I'm torn between a pair of left and right handed VKB gunfighter's with kosmosima grips and a pair of Virpil Constellation Delta grips on WarBRD bases? I am looking for the ultimate pair of twist axised joysticks, currently rocking a pair of t16000's - looking for something of Warthog calibre, but twinstick rather than hotas, and twist axis on both sticks are essential, so what do you recommend?

Having both, I can say that you can't go wrong with either one really.
Virpil is probably a lot easier to obtain, given the ~2week restock schedule
The Delta also has the better twist in my opinion.
It also require fairly large hands to operate comfortably, given it's tall design.

Personally I prefer the Kosmosima's for their vastly superior ergonomics, button layout and software.
The negative is inferior twist due to the lift design, it's not a deal breaker by any stretch, but there is a very noticeable center detente that can affect your accuracy (depending on use case etc).

I would not say that either of them are suited for tabletop use, but if that is your intended use, VKB is the only choice really. Delta is way to tall for comfort without mounts.

I recently reviewed the kosmosima, having reached the same conclusion as the above poster, it is by miles the more useful and ergonomic grip for elite, for me. None of the others have all options for secondary fire (thumb, pinky, or dual trigger). The grip is a tad small if you are a giant though.

I would kill for either set up.
I'm never telling you where I live

I was going to post a link to your gratuitous "Look what I bought!" review ;)

OP, I was facing the same conundrum with my failing T16000, cause obviously they're a like for like replacement (but they are dearest, they are ...).

My mind was made up by:
  • Aashenfox's review
  • the lower height and smallish grip size
  • buttons, lots and lots and lots of buttons, and a pinky trigger which will leave the thumb for functions and unburden my CH throttle a little.

I don't have it yet, paid for and waiting for posting.

I agree it's a nice looking stick, what finger/control do you currently use for secondary fire?
I don't have the stick yet, I currently have a cheap pile of rubbish.

My understanding is the the constellation has dual triggers, can you not push the first trigger out of the way so you can just use the second trigger? If thats not the case I may have to reconsider my purchase.

Edit: Doing a bit more research I can use a button on my throttle for secondary fire, but I can also use one of the hats or the recess button.

Yeh, you correctly guessed where I was going with that. Having spent time with the x56 (which also has no thumb button for secondary fire), it was an absolute requirement for my next stick. My pinky is just not as strong or responsive as my thumb, and on my throttle, I need to have a grip on the thrusters, the boost button, the FA off paddle, the pip macros hat and the countermeasures hat, plus switching the muscle memory for secondary fire to a totally different hand would SIGNIFICANTLY impact my ability for some time. Your mileage on that may vary of course, depending how much performance you demand from yourself on a day to day basis (if I'm not tip top, every day, I'll be killed, and I appreciate the game is not like that for everyone).

P.S. I tried using the 'press' on hats, it was a disaster, the hats couldn't be used for anything else due to stiffness to 'click' often requiring enough force to accidentally hit a directoin in the heat of the moment.

I was leaning towards the VKB's anyways, this thread has confirmed that they are the right choice, so I'll get them ordered in the next couple of days when my new debitcard arrives. Thanks for the advice and information, I really appreciate it as given the size of this purchase, its something I wanted to make sure I got right first time.

I'm currently using an old Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar set-up (stick, throttle, pedals). They're solid, but are starting to show their age after my dad abused them throughout my teenage life (mid-2000's), and then me using them for Elite for the last 18 months. I'm considering getting a wheel and pedals for racing too, meaning I'd want to get a twist axis stick for yaw to replace the flight pedals.

I don't want to go backwards in terms of quality, and I really like the look of that VKB Kosmosima (thanks OP, I'd never heard of them before). What throttle would you guys recommend pairing with it for a HOTAS set-up?

Not too sure I can justify the extra £100 pounds for the KOSMOSIMA grip and base. But I would prefer that one.

I don’t like the look or the price of either, and I can’t fathom using 2 sticks instead of a throttle, but that’s me. You spend your money however you like.

@IndigoWyrd - Right stick is yaw pitch and roll, with yaw being on twist, Y and X axis' respectively, Left stick is twist for vertical thrusters , X axis (left and right) for lateral's, Y axis (back and forth) for forward and aft thrusters. Two sticks, six axis, 6 Degrees of Freedom controlled, and its actually very intuitive for flying flight assist off. So Right hand is Rotation around the axis' and Left hand is traversing aLong the axis.
