[LORE] The Imperial accent

I know that this answer comes very late, but better late than never ... Actually, you do not have to look far to know how the imperial accent sounds. It's basically British English. You can also hear it in the Imperial stations (especially in the space traffic controllers announcements), but the voices can also have some not quite correct versions appear (as the example with the Asian-sounding woman in the station announcements) -It could also be around act a kind of sub-accent of the actual accent (or it is the imperial accent of an non-native engkish speaker.) Within the game there are many indications that in the universe several languages are spoken, only English -like nowadays-is considered a kind of lingua franca , just maybe a little different and seemingly much more widespread.) If you were a little curious about what options the ship has to offer, you may even already know the answer. If you click in the ship on the button "Codex" then on "knowledge base" and then clicking on "individuals", you can read a text depending on the person .You can also listen to the text thanks to the recordings with their original appropriate voices. When Aisling, Arissa and so on are speaking You hear clearly a very beautiful British pronunciation, the Empress with her pronunciation and emphasis sounds quite snobbish and snazzy. Meanwhile the beautiful original audio recordings have been replaced by the respective "newscaster voice" for every language, but I'm sure that you can hear the original voices, if you put the game in English. The FE2 lore regarding such things as Imperial culture has to a certain extent been retconned; the accent appears to be one of them. The Lore implies that Imperial accent sounds like nothing currently spoken on Earth today. As I stated in another old now-long-gone thread on this subject, I've heard the Australian accent described by non-Australians as "whiny", so I imagine the FE2-Imperial accent would sound rather like an Australian doing a very bad job at mock-imitating the American accent. Or perhaps the other way around.

Once voice-acting took hold in ED (station voice-overs, traffic controllers, and most recently in the Codex), they went down the path of Fed = mostly American, Imp = mostly British - not entirely unlike the Rebel/Empire division in the original Star Wars movie.

Well based of the station voices i'd say Standard Imperial English is that very posh accent. However i also believe that the accent varies from system to system and that new variations of the languages of today has formed. For instance if a lot of African settlers settled in New Africa i'd imagine they would develop their own creole language over the years together with whatever standard accent The Federation has.

To me, as a native Brit, it sounds like how an American would imagine a posh English accent (there's no such thing as a British Accent really), basically fake. It isn't close to any I've encountered. I can see how the whiny part could match with certain "posh" english. Some politicians have a similar nasal quality.
It's funny, since FD are based in Cambridge, but voice actors will be voice actors, so...
