Newcomer / Intro Lost custom key bind - can't figure out roll/pitch/yaw

So today I added a new 2nd account, so I could use one account to explore and the other to do missions in the bubble.
Everything was good, and going swimmingly.
Then.. out of nowhere, my controls (custom bindings) seem to have shifted and I no longer had adequate control of my ship. I searched online and followed instructions for copying my bindings from my original account into my new account, and that did... nothing.
Then i went to my old account to manually copy those settings but now they had become compromised as well.

The basics are my yaw, pitch and roll no longer work the way I've been using them for the past year. Suddenly left is up, and right is roll, and up is yaw.. .and it's a mess. I spent hours trying to figure out a tweak to get things back, but honestly I'm not an expert in yaw/pitch/roll. I did watch about 2 dozen youtube video's ... but nothing helped. I had a system that was working great for the past year, that's just gone and i can't get it back.

I tried deleting the custom bind files in >options. I've now completely deleted the entire game from my computer to rid myself of whatever the problem is and am reinstalling, but I still can't get back to my original settings. I just can't seem to get it to simply do what i want it to do (and what it used to do) for moving left/right, up/down, rolling....etc.

Does anyone have any advice on how to figure this out?

keybindings can reset if you visit the control section without one of your usual devices used to play the game ie hotas , xbox pad etc not plugged in or at that present moment is undetected by windows as it thinks your just using keyboard and mouse it simply rewrites your binds for you...

Depending on how you set up your two accounts, they would share the same bindings. But your bindings may get reverted to kb+m default if the game can't find your controllers. That's temporarily - unless you start changing bindings in this state.

If you have to start a new set of bindings I suggest the first thing to do is plug in your keyboard, mouse, games controller, HOTAS/HOSAS, flight pedals and any other ancillaries you are going to use, then label or otherwise note where they are connected.

Start the game and go to Options Controls and set up the basics after that use the tutorials to refine your controls, they are great for this as they are repeatable.

Then follow the advice above about renaming and backing up somewhere safe.

P.S. Absolutely agree to rename your binds as per the link in @Ashnak's post - only custom gets wiped, I have never lost my binds in all the time I have been playing because of using renamed binds files.

Close the launcher after you start the client - you can then run a different launcher and use that to launch a separate installation of the game. (You need 2 installations.)

I don't do that, I have a secondary PC next to the main one.
