Lost.. in.. spaaace.. No, seriously!

Hey the view is kinda nice from up here but it's getting to be a drag ;( You see, I'm kinda stuck up here and my ship is riiight down there. It's a little hard to see but it's there. I could use a friend to help me get back to the surface. For a decent jumper (60+ light-years) I'd say you could make it here from the bubble in about ten jumps. I didn't want to panic but my O2 won't last forever and it's starting to get a little chilly.

It would also be fun to see at what speed a person on the hull of a ship begins to fly off of it. And whether a person riding on a ship can reach the surface in one piece by going moderately slowly or with flight assist off.

Anyways if you're near by and want to lend a thruster to the cause be sure to drop a note before jetting off, So we can coordinate for this delicate Space Op.

Great! Now it's getting dark. Particulars attached.

You can synthesize Life Support (Oxygen) if you're in a jam.
I think it needs Nickle and Iron or something.

Always have a full load of those.

Hey all!

Yep still drifing in orbit, I'm sure I could let the clock run out, or get griefed, or call and waste support's time. But really I just want to see what this engine can do and to enjoy everything the game could offer, sort of like an experiment in fun. I got stuck here in the first place by trying to and succeeding at the EVA/geyser exploit. The next bit of fun is getting back down safely in what I'm dubbing Operation Touchdown. Maybe my jet pack could push me back, but it's 150 km to the surface. I think attaching myself to a ship and crawling back just might be the only way.

I'm relatively sure that "Main Menu" > "Help and Info" > "Stuck Recovery" is your only option for getting out of this alive. However since you are EVA it might be cool to walk around on another commanders ship as when I was EVA (due to being yanked out of my carrier at the end of a jump), it seemed to work on the carrier hull.

If I was at home I'd come to try to render assistance, but I'm stuck on laptop and fly like a drunkard with kb+m.

Edit: Have you tried contacting the Fuel Rats or the Hull Seals? I'm sure they could find an experienced commander that would love to come out to try and find a way to save you.

Stuck recovery as myself and a couple of others havs said should do the trick.

If you want to do it in-game for realism/Immerrrrrrrrshun, I believe the Hull Seals have a division called Kingfishers who specialise in those kinds of situation,

So I decided to run out of O2 on purpose in orbit, neat visuals of fading a gas giant, rebuy screen. Redeployed on my ship in orbit. Nothing lost. I guess it was more about the fun of trying than anything else. Got some neat recording ideas. If anyone still wants to try to reach the surface from orbit with me on the hull and you piloting get back to me by Saturday the 30th pacific time. Thanks for the responses.

You will not be able to cargo scoop a cmdr or SRV. The only ways to recover are stuck recovery, or extremely careful bppoing down to the surface (but to be honest, that would be so difficult to do without killing the stricken cmdr, I'd be hesitant to try it.) If you really want to recover "in game" then I'd say the Kingfishers (hull seals) are the best bet. They will have experience to draw upon.

In the Ody Alpha, I did actually spend a few days floating in spce 20km from a starport in just a standard flight suit. I fell through and out of a starport when the pad I was walking across decided do move to the interior surface of the barrel. It sort of slid out from beneath me. I had to get FDev support to repatriate me into my ship.
