lost ship, how do I get it back?

server jumped me on to a base on the rear end, death was instantaneous, 3rd time its happened, only this time I hit it with out a chance of turning in time :(

If you dont do this already: aproach stations always from the planet side, max. the chance to drop out on the port side of the station.

It'd be realistic to have the chance of regaining your own crago floating in space where your ship was destroyed. This should be always happening and open it up to REAL USS instead of fake random ones.

I spawned too close to an Ocellus a while ago, when I approached it 'from the rear'.

Hasn't been an issue for me for a long time because I always SC between the station and the planet and turn up towards the station before I exit SC.

I think the rotating stations are pretty much always* facing the planet (at a slight angle), because I pretty much always end up exiting SC facing the entrance.

I the situation is dicey. i.e. I don't want to be scanned, and want to take the boost-right-in-through-the-entrance approach, then I take much more care lining up my exit from SC to be accurately between the station and the planet, and this always seems to pay off.

* the galaxy is big place, YMMV.

Submit a ticket with screenshots and maybe they will reimburse you.

Sounds similar to the Beta bug where safe disengaging put you inside the station walls.

I do wish there wasn't this elitist attitude of "if you can't afford the unsurance you shouldn't fly it" responce.

Elitist attitude?

There is nothing elitist about that statement at all, in any way shape or form. It is entirely truthful and is a valuable piece of advice (which is exactly how it should be taken).

Would you buy a Ferrari and then take it racing down the interstate at 200+ mph with no collision coverage? Better yet, if you crashed the car, would you then complain to the investigators that you thought getting insurance was an elitist concept?

Seriously, think before you type.

Been here since PB and never had that !!! you are unlucky !
I approach a station then before coming out of cruise mode I make sure the planet is behind me, not only you never hit a station, but the station slot will always be in front of you.

THIS. START DOING THIS IMMEDIATELY. It won't put you directly in front of the station, but it will ALWAYS put you near the front 180 degrees of every station, thus always avoiding any station hull at the rear. Make sure the orbiting planet is always behind you when disengaging to the station.

This has been confirmed by the devs on several occasions to be untrue. Stations are not tidally locked to the bodies they orbit. If it's facing the planet now, half an orbit later it will be facing away.
so you have no experience of this ? :)
Every time(and 2 mins ago) I approach a station with the planet behind me, I am facing the station entrance, sometimes in front of me, sometimes slightly to the side, but never behind !
I will try a few more systems over the next few days and see if I can find one as you say :)

Its one of the ocellus star ports, twice I have jumped in right on top of the ring behind the entrance, once on the rear end of the starport I just had time to turn about .5km away. This time I didnt make it and hit the rear end instant death :(

Last night I exited really close to an Ocellus station myself. I hope the devs look into it, maybe push back the distance you drop out of supercruise. for those particular stations.

I jumped into a system the other day, and had no time to react and went too close to the sun. It dropped me out of supercruse (after less than a second) and kept saying heat damage. I hit the supercurse key and lucky for me I escaped the cooker with 5% left of my ship. Asps are not cheap to fix so I was looking at a huge bill. Had to down grade the ship as it was going to cost more that if it had blown up.
