Lost Ship

Hi Commanders!

I am a relatively new player, ~140 hours or so on Elite.

I've grinded my way to an Anaconda with full FSD Engineering, this was during the peak of mining. I have been grinding for Guardian components at the guardian site on Synuefe PX-J c25-8.

After a decent break from Elite, I recently decided to take the leap and grab Oddyssey, and return to my goals.

Upon spawning on to the planet, I am inside my SRV, however, my ship is nowhere to be found (Not even on the Radar, even if I launch through Horizons instead of Odyssey).

I have no idea how to create a support ticket for this since the "Lost Ships, Credits and Modules" Section of the Frontier support is blank on my side. I was thinking perhaps I can resolve this on my own ingame?

Hence, I now ask you experts if you have ever encountered this problem. ED is honestly like real life, there is so much I still don't even know, so maybe theres a way for me to get back to a station and recall my ship? Or perhaps someone can point me in the right direction to contact frontier support.

Kind Regards

First things first: have you tried recalling your ship? If you landed on that planet with your ship, then it should be still around (although not landed).
You can either recall it from the crotch panel, in the SRV, or from the wheel menu if you are on foot.

If you can't do it, the next thing you could do is load Elite Dangerous (not Odyssey, not Horizons): it should put you back on your ship, in orbit.

Hi HRDiagram,

I will be sure to give that a shot, I have spent MOST of my time inside the ship. So these are new mechanics to me, I should familiarize myself with them.

I have read that opening ED without Horizons and Odyssey would spawn me inside a ship in space. I seem to have scrolled passed the Elite Dangerous option, I assumed maybe with Horizons merged in it no longer exists.

Thanks for the tips, this helps alot! I was quite stressed out.

Hi,
The Horizons options should still be present - The Launcher starts with a "pick list" - Odyssey is the top (default) item, below that should be "Horizons".

If you left Horizons in an SRV, then that planet is still landable in Odyssey, so you'll start in an SRV on the planet surface. Odyssey has more landable planets - so if you land and deploy an SRV, then change to Horizons you will be taken to orbit only if the planet isn't landable in Horizons.

You will find that your keybindings will have changed - check carefully before engaging too many flight controls - there are many more keybindings in Odyssey than Horizons, so be careful if you swap!

Of course not :).

Same as when you drive too far away from your ship, or dismiss it manually: the ship is "in orbit", where it's safe from any attacks. Use your crotch panel and recall the ship. It will come back to your position and then, usually, land in the most inaccessible spot within a 2 km radius. Even if (or especially when) you're sitting on a huge piece of perfectrly flat ground.

Hey Colprice2002,

The logic makes sense,

For some reason, on Horizons I could not call my ship. On Odyssey I was able to! Never again will I feel so stranded in space ! (I manage my fuel well:LOL:)

I cant believe I did not know the ship can be recalled.

thanks for all the help guys!

Believe it or not, it landed pretty close to me hahaha. But I imagine I will be using this feature a lot more now that I have Odyssey, so lets see how that works out for me.

I will just finish up my grinding for guardian materials with Horizon, then switch over to Odyssey.

EDIT: Its really great to see the ED community so active, I need this game to stay alive forever because there is simply nothing like it.

So much this! 😂

I had instances where the ship landed on the only visible rock on planet bowling ball!

I had a cutter 'attempt' to land next to me only for it to grind its nose on the only mountain within eye shot... all mostly flat in 3 directions and there it was playing "how long before I can get these shields off" on the mountain side. Dismissed it and it just made the problem worse lmao

Hi,

Glad it worked!

Normally I will dismiss my ship once on the surface - especially if there are any facilities nearby - once it's left, it's very unlikely (never say impossible) to be destroyed*.

You should be able to recall the ship from the surface once you're clear of any port facility (i.e. outside the 7.5km no-fire zone) if you're in an SRV.

If your SRV is destroyed, you should end up back in your ship
