Lots of Federal Security Ships in HazRes

Hey all,

I went to the HazRes in LHS 317 this evening for some one on one BH action. I engage my first target, and, as he's near death THREE Federal Security Ships jump in and start helping me out. I go to HazRes site for the explicit reason that I'll NOT be getting any help. What gives? I've NEVER seen security ships in a HazRes before, has something changed?

I've been buzzing around in this HazRes for 10 or so minutes now, and the Feds are going nuts on Wanted ships - just as if they were in a HighRes.

I've of course double-checked I am indeed in the HazRes and I am.

Edit: urgh. This RazRes is totally broken. Every fight that I see in the distance, ever potential Wanted ship that appears, Federal Security Ships are already there and kill the NPC before I even get close. Definitely a broken instance, I'm leaving to try again.

Are they system security, or powerplay bounty hunter ships? You normally find the latter in exploited (and maybe others) pp systems, so think of them as bounty hunter NPCs. They leave after a while (guessing at half hour) but will be in on it otherwise.

A non pp system won't spawn them if you want somewhere without scoob :)

I'm in the same system I've Bounty-Hunted in for ages, unless something drastic has changed then there should be NO Security Ships in a HazRes. It's never happened here before in the hundreds of times I visited.

Edit: Exiting the instance and returning seems to have fixed things, no Feds in sight so far...

Weird. Perhaps it's close to a high Res and it was bugged. Otherwise the ones I'm talking about are named a little differently, but the fact resetting it got rid of them seems to imply a buggy quirk.

If it had flipped to a powerplay system though, I'd think you would have noticed already if it's a regular place for you. Also I thought they only happened on Thurs maintenance ticks, so I think you just have a bug mate. At least a reset fixed it!

sometimes something like this can happen, if system security follows you into the haz res (for exampel because they wanted to interdict you, like they sometimes do in conflict states). the system security than attacks a wanted ship, get shot, crimes are reported, and Haz res fills with more and more system security like we know from a high res or scenarios around megaships.
(a bug, yes. because system security unavailable isn't true for system security ...)

Low-High have security ships. Hazardous does not, and it tends to have more lucrative targets. Still not sure if the Low-High ratings for extraction sites mean security or threat.

I have to say though, even without this happening, Haz Res' don't seem as hazardous as you might imagine they should be. Perhaps it just has something to do with me flying an overly protected prismatic shielded Krait with an Elite NPC crew member?
try pirate activity Threat 6 or 7 in a system with the controlling faction in civil unrest or lockdown. that might provide a challenge.
eally an option.

Threat, I'm 99% sure.
You never know since what ship spawns is kinda RNG, but during the bounty CG we had recently I tried the only RES source we had (Low) and it spawned basically nothing but Mostly Harmless Sideys.

And the security included 1 full wing of Condas

Yeah, a challenge alright. When you get 5 or 6 highly ranked ships ganging up on you at once it can get pretty tricky. I find I then have to retreat for a bit to try and separate them somewhat. Not always an effective strategy but sure makes it more interesting. I might have to try winging sometime.

Talking of threat levels, is there any way of knowing what the threat levels actually mean? I was reading some older posts saying that no one really knows and they are inconsistent. Not sure if that is still the case?

I've seen cops in a haz RES before and I mentioned it on the forum at the time with a photo.. If you use Google, you can find other threads about it too.

Normally, yes, though this evening a HazRes had Security ships which I've never seen before. Lots of Security ships.
