Ships Loving My Krait Mk2

Ahahaha! Rick's fleet: Beluga after Beluga, all lined up in the hangar... :) "Which ship should I fly today?" Lol

I like a little variety though. Now if there were a medium baby Beluga, I'd probably never fly anything else, hehe
I have a dolphin and beluga, thats all i need :D

Just ONE of each?! What if they get lonely? How are they going to have BABIES?!

The Dolphin is probably the ship I have flown least, but I notice that Old Duck and some others around here really like it. Then I was looking it over in EDSY the other day and realized it has some really unique characteristics which I'm going to have to explore later on.

(I'm going to call mine "Flipper" lol)

The Dolphin is good, it's actually a fairly close rival to the DBX imo. It trades a bit of range for a vaunted size 5 slot, making the ship much more versatile than the DBX.

Think of it this way:
  • Dolphin doesn't need to spend an eternity scooping
  • Dolphin can bring a large fuel scoop, size 4 FSD booster AND a size 4 SRV bay or corrosive cargo rack
  • Dolphin is faster than DBX
  • Dolphin gets a better landing shield using the same shield setup
  • Dolphin looks sleek while the DBX looks like an oversized moth

Meanwhile, in DBX-land:
  • Better jump range
  • Takes a little bit more effort to overheat
  • Stronger hull

It's really a toss up depending on what you want your ship to do. Personally I went with the Dolphin as a short range explorer because I knew I would inevitably need the extra utility on offer for thargoid or guardian content. https://s.orbis.zone/4wtd

Nice summary! I'm really interested in these two ships because they have super-rapid shield regen capability with a 3C-biweave with thermal and low-draw (34s for the DBX with a resist booster! - ~96 Mj shields)

I must say the Krait MKII did significantly improve by the simple,
across all boards, addition of a single size 1 optional internal.
It can now run all tricks of the trade, aswell as some
low grade HRP and MRP.
The fighter bay can mae up for the tool-hardpoints (triple smalls) missing.

I still haven't found a need for the Class 7 power plant.

My typical setup runs long range beams, MCs, bi-weaves, 2x Guardian shield rios, 2x 0A shield boosters, dirty drags. Quite power-hungry, but a 6A G5 armoured plant still more than covers my needs.

Anyone have a build than NEEDS a 7A PP?

I've got a Krait II that uses a G5 armoured 7A power plant: https://s.orbis.zone/4xaa

It uses multiple guardian shield boosters on top of a SCB, bi-weave shield, AND power hungry weapons. It still manages to run fairly cool despite all of the power draw (yay for G5 armoured w/ thermal spread and G5 efficient weapon mods).

This is one thing I loved about the Kraits, before I unlocked any engineers: I could do whatever I wanted with the ship, even without engineering. I had the Guardian PP and distro unlocked before engineers.

Edit: I'd highly recommend unlocking these two modules early in a new playthrough, as they will allow you to procrastinate engineering if you want: Guardian Powerplant, Guardian Power Distributor.

Of course, i need the built in integrity and g5 low EM it,
the less energy used, the colder runs the ship ;)
