Low FPS on 2080ti and Ryzen 3800x

Hi I just bought this game, i'm not sure why but in this game no matter what graphics setting i have it set to, the game is bouncing around 50-57 fps.

My monitor is 3440x1440 @ 100hz

my set up is
RTX 2080ti (no overclocks)
AMD Ryzen 3800x (no overclocks)
16gb of DDR 4 3400mhz C14

installed on a Samsung 970 Evo+ 1tb Nvme

VSync is off because i have frame capped to 100fps in nvidia control panel and i have Gsync

Whats the deal here? i expect the full 100 here from a game of this type, i don't have any issues in any other games except for early access poorly optimised games.

Is there any fixes etc?

I have tried it on Lowest/Low//medium/high/ultra, AA on and off, it must be poor optimisation

I can run Red Dead Redemption 2 at 90-95fps, its seems crazy for this game to use so much, every type of setting i have tried gives me the same results, on average 54fps in this game, it must be some kind of bug i think.

I tried exiting discord as i seen in a guide online and the fps is still the same.

How many guests and animals do you have in your zoo? This game is extremely cpu intensive. I've got a i9 9900k, 32gb of 3000 mhz, rtx 2070 and also installed it on a samsung 970 evo and use a 1440p monitor. When I have 8000 guests and around 200 animals (33 species) my framerate is around 16-20fps. The same zoo with 2500 guests it is around 35 fps. (this is on speed 1, paused it's about 15 fps more).

Because it's extremely cpu intensive it doesn't matter what the graphic settings are. I really hope they will improve the engine further or balance the game a bit more so that zoo's attrtact less guests so you can build a bigger zoo without the lag..

I'm just in the tutorial, I have not built a zoo yet, a guy on the steam forum has a way less spec pc than me and he said hes maxed it out no problem, i'm wondering if this game does not like Ryzen cpu's?

Is it the first tutorial? Will check my fps and come back to you!

Ok thank you

unrelated question..saves opening a new post

it tells me in the tutorial to replace the brick wall with a glass window wall, which i have done but i cannot find anyway of accepting what i have just done, how do i accept the change? if I click off it it vanishes, have redone it about 20 times lol

Have you unpaused the game after the change? If I remember correctly, after building in pause-mode in the tutorial, I had to unpause it in order to have the step accepted.

The first tutorial I get between 70 and 82 fps on 1x speed and 90 fps when paused. Be sure to turn vsync off in de graphic menu's settings of the game it self.

Regarding your other question.. I dunno I just click on the wall, change it and hit the "x" on the right side on the screen to exit the build walls mode.. Then it stays the same.

Yeah it does not work, it loses what I have doen every time, have done it nearly 30 times now, yes VSync is off, I may refund because i'm nearly at my 2 hour limit on Steam, I may grab it in a sale later on when its fixed up a bit

I just tried one last time, I redid it again, I pressed the 'X' with the game not paused, and the same, it disappears every single time.

I was a bit wary of paying £30+ for the game anyway and have been stuck on the same area for over a hour, that with the performance issues I think i'll grab it again later on.

You'll never reach 100 fps, and in the future you will be most likely to average it out at 30.

Expecting 100 fps with any setup with this game is impossible.

To be fair 60 would have been nice, its not like it has award winning graphics.

I'm guessing because i'm running the game at ultrawide that there is more guests and animals on the screen so its hammering my fps, I was tempted to sell this monitor and buy a new 160hz standard 1440p anyway because I play a lot of fps, ultrawide is known for hammering your cpu.

PS I fixed the barrier problem I realised I only had to replace 1 wall, not the whole exhibit, so problem solved, I decided to keep the game because I'm enjoying it anyway, just the combination of things were frustrating me.

I run a 49" UW monitor with an I9 9700k, 16gb RAM and a GTX 1070TI. No issues running at 5120 x 1440 with 20 exhibits and 3k guests. Doesn't help with your issue though I am afraid. All settings ramped up to the hilt. No idea what FPS I am getting as don't care about those numbers. Does it run smooth, yes it does.

I mean if you are not monitoring it, you could easily be getting 30fps and you don't even know it.

I'm assuming you mean you have a i7-9700k or a i9-9900k I'm not sure which because the i9-9700k does not exist, but I do think that anyone with a 9700k or 9900k will get better performance no matter what your card is because the game is poorly coded on the cpu usuage and only uses 1 core, and these 2 processors can hit 5ghz no problem, Ryzen processors are better over multi cores, i7's and i9's are better in single core performance and most games use single core.

As I have noticed the game is completely CPU bound.

Its pretty much a situation of if it goes under 60fps its going to lag, if people are ok with that then that's fine, but I'm used to beasting around Red Dead Redemption 2 and other demanding games around 90fps+ so stepping down like this feels horrible to play.

But it is what it is, I don't want a debate on what I should tolerate, I would just prefer it to run better, and that's it really, I'm enjoying it anyway.

I thought i'd update I used a program called Process Lassoo to force the game to use 1 core and now I'm getting 80fps (ultra 3k guests)

For anyone who has had a similar problem with top end Ryzen cpu's, this is the guide here

Yes sorry that was a typo, I meant a I9-9900k. I may well be getting just 30 fps, or even 1 (unlikely), but it doesn't lag and there is a lot of fixation on FPS and refresh rates. I tend to go with does it run acceptably, if so it doesn't matter. I understand yours has not been though.

Glad to see you have found something to help out with your issue and hopefully you can enjoy the game more now (y)
