Luxury cabins useful?

Thinking of grabbing an Orca for the 1st time, can outfit with 1st class or luxury.
However, with my present ship fitted for 1st class, I never see any locked missions with luxury requirements.
Are there any luxury missions?
How's the pay (assuming allied status)?

Running out of several Boom systems allied with all factions I don't see a lot of them. When they show up the profit doesn't seem to be all that much better and requires more risk..but that's just me. I haven't tried being allied with all factions in a Tourist system which logic says the profits should be better. But this is ED...logic is often replaced by RNG.

Here's my Orca build for multiple jump local bubble tourist missions. I find it a lot of fun with good profits and lots of sightseeing. I have all the cabins stored in my best system and change them out as the missions show up.

For credits I load up a Python with 42 first class passenger cabins then go for single jump transport missions. It seems ironic that other ships can often do better than the dedicated passenger versions. There's that logic thing again.

Oh well, some ideas to consider from a player who isn't too serious about passenger missions. Your goals and results will vary.

I see them pop up frequently, but they only appear to be marginally better than my First Class passenger runs. And they never come in enough quantity for me to invest in a Starliner with Lux cabins.

I get along happily with first class. I have a load of luxury cabins in storage, but never use them, ever.

I keep 2 Luxury cabins in my Beluga, 2 First Class, plus a couple Business Class. Covers anything I find.

My Passenger play doesn't focus on bulk hauls, or filled-to-capacity flights. I book for the money, aiming for $9 to $15 million per expedition. A single Passenger offering $10 million will get the entire ship to themselves. This keeps my workload and risk at a reasonable level (at least IMO). For Passengers paying in the $3m to $7m range, I can stack 2, maybe 3 of them and I'm off.

Luxury Cabins, in and of themselves, aren't something of a bonus as I had hoped. But the missions can pay well, when they come along. Usually I'll "upgrade" a Passenger mission to Luxury Cabins when they are not going to be filled otherwise, so it's zero dead weight for me to have them. Too bad the Passenger won't pay a bonus for this upgrade, though.

I have seen 2 luxury requests the entire time I've played and I played since the game came out.

Get one if you want to, but first class seems the way to go.

Thx all, good to know, I was hoping the luxury missions had found a more predominant place since inception of passengers, maybe I'll still get the Orca for a change of scenery.
It can share a couple of modules with Python.
Seems DNA-Decay is the contrarian.

The orca is cool. Once upgraded with G5 dirty drives. It’s super, super fast !
...I have two, one fitted with economy cabins, and the other with first class. Makes it quicker to select the right ship for what’s on the passenger mission boards.

I can haul 54 first class in my type 7, although 6 VIP transport missions pay more.

However, if doing sightseeing, the Orca's jump range and fuel tank make it the better fit. Also, might as well fit class 6 luxury cabins on sightseeing, VIPs tend to need max 6 seats, and having luxury missions available isn't a bad thing if you aren't really sacrificing anything for them.

But if you have the money, nothing beats the Conda (sadly).

Have the 'conda, and a 'vette, but don't enjoy my time in them.

If you find them useful post it here. That way it can be nerfed before someone accidentally enjoys the game.

Two billion credits doesn’t lie.

I went to flip my first system to The Alliance, and because of a peculiar BGS edge case, it accidentally turned the system into an Alliance money printer. Wasn’t just me that did the flipping work, but certainly I was a primary advocate, and I analyzed the particular BGS circumstances that make it work.

Frontier were concerned that other Passenger Mission sites were printing too much money and implemented a nerf which turned it off here as well.
But then another change (also intended to reign in PM stacking) had the opposite effect due to the unique circumstances of this system.

It’s not as crazy as when it was just a raw money printer, but yeah - if I need another quarter billion Credits I go there and work my Beluga Passenger Ferry for a few days. There’s always one or two VIPs that insist on a Luxury cabin, so it’s always part of the mix.

It’s not widely advertised, but if you can prove your credentials as an Alliance CMDR, I’m happy to PM you a link to my write up of the system and how and why it works. That goes for anyone. No need for Alliance CMDRs to be poor.

I don’t think of it as an exploit.
I think of it as a BGS edge case.

Well then what are you waiting for? Fit that class 6 luxury cabin for those sightseeing missions. Absolutely no reason not to for sightseeing. Class 5s should be first class though, gotta have at least 6 seats per VIP.

Nice to see someone prefer smaller ships like myself too.

Last night, bought an Orca.
Was in a section of space that had little by way of outfitting, so grabbed the FSD off my Asp, grabbed the DD5 thrusters, the ADS, DSS, and 1st class cabins off my python, bought a 4A shield, and without thinking further, picked up 2 sets of VIPs siteseers.
Well, turns out the stock power plant doesn't power shields and life support at the same time, so I'm undocking with shields, but everyone onboard is breathing through respirators.
That's ok, I think, I'll do the missions without shields, and deactivated them so that life support returns.
I was halfway to the 1st site when reason took over, I can't so the missions without shields, at the first scratch on the hull, these spoiled passengers will certainly bail.
Detour to nearest station that sells a rated PP. Stay a few KM's out, everyone back on the respirators, wait until shields kick in before docking.
Gave the passengers something to talk about.
All in all, it's a good ship, it warrants its own engineering, and will def hunt down a lux cabin since I'll be keeping it.

I tend to use them for the kinds of parties that are probably illegal in at least half the galaxy. Jacuzzi full of champagne, trippy disco lights, walls that magically convert into hidden bars. Tried throwing the telly out of one of the windows once. Vacuum sucks.
