M type giant : only (Reported), not (Confirmed) ; why?

Mornin' confined folks!

At this moment, I'm in an undiscovered system with a shiny Red Giant Star, but no update for my codex when enterring system, nor with F.S.S, honk etc...
And now, I'm running out of ideas

Please help me...

o7 CMDRS.

Please don't take offence, I am genuinely interested, and hopefully someone can actually help you in a minute.

Why do you care about this?

IIRC when you discover something the codex logs it as reported for the galactic sector but will only be confirmed if another player also scans it or another of its type in the same sector, i'm a bit fuzzy on whether it has to be the same one they scan or if its just any body of the same type in the same sector

Isn't it supposed to work like this:

Codex has no entries for a thing in a sector - YOU find that thing in the sector - this thing is CONFIRMED for YOU in this sector.
Codex has entry for a thing in a sector, you have never personally seen it (the person above did) it is shown as REPORTED - YOU find the reported thing in the sector - it is now CONFIRMED (for YOU)

Codex has something RUMOURED in a sector - We just went through a wormhole into a dimension where FD did something with that mechanic they added years ago.

I think that's right?

I'm a completionist and try to complete all the codex entries for all the regions...
No offense mate!

Never have a problem like this before for the previous entries... So I don't know.

Found this post which may explain things, it's possible that a red giant has already been discovered in the sector.

It's 100% true that one has been discovered already in that sector.

That's when it says "Reported"

Once you then find it, it should not say "Confirmed"

Confirmed state is for you personally.

Reported, is what other commanders have found.

There is a rumour going round that the rumoured state might one day be used by Frontier Developments...

Maybe, but I'm not sure about this.

Concerning stars, all my previous entries was registered as soon as I was near it or after honk the whole system.
Last week I made some "new codex discoveries", giant spectral O and Black Hole without worries, terra's rocky body and lots of diferent bio's and geo's site too!

Thanks for the input guys...

It's possible it's also broken, there were quite a few bug entries that came up in the forum search. I know when it first came out and i discovered my first set of lagrange clouds i didn't right them down or bookmark the system as i thought the codex would record it for me but i've been unable to find them logged anywhere on it so i've not used it since.

Had a few dodgy issues while "completing" 8 sectors worth of entries.

With stars it's an issue where they seem to be labelled giants/supergiants in galmap based on either mass or luminosity whereas Codex appears to work off it's own set of requirements.

Sadly, it sounds like this one doesn't leet the Codexs requirements so you'll either need to find another or head to and scan the reported one in the region.

FYI a lot of terraformable ammonia world entries are bugged even if you visit reported one's and several Lagrange clouds are only reliably spawing while in solo mode.

Hope that helps some and stay safe out there Cmdr

Understood, and thank you all!

I will edit this thread and post some screenshots of the system if it can be useful, after selling it of course...

o7 CMDRS, see you in the Black.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I have "Reported" stars and Lagrange clouds that I have visited but they are not "Confirmed" to me as they should be. This has also been logged on the Issue Tracker which I have added my findings to.
