Hardware & Technical Mac/PC versions

I realise that the priority is to get the PC version of the game out. I was just wondering whether as a Mac version is being made at a later date:

1) If I hold out for the Mac version of the game (as I only have a Mac at the moment) whether I will be playing in an online world with PC users or whether they will be separate versions. I would prefer that we could all play together but I am aware that cross-platform doesn't always allow this.

2) Whether I will get to choose which platform my boxed copy of the game will be for?

This may be a bit of an odd subject for a forum and is probably better suited as questions for Frontier but on the off chance someone knows it would be much appreciated :)

Pretty sure they will use the same universe.

I’m interested to know what the deal is with MAC. I imagine that various people feel MAC is superior to Windows, but I don’t know the difference, Is MAC a superior gaming platform to windows as a gaming platform, I always thought MAC can’t be upgraded. Teach me the difference why MAC is better than windows as a gaming platform.

I think you're pretty safe in assuming we'll all be in together. It would be wasted effort to create a separate server pool for a different platform,

Did I understand correctly that we can download the Windows version first and then, when the Mac version arrives we can download that version free of charge?

I got the feeling the charge was for a commander as opposed to the game client itself (although I've not actually seen this explicitly anywhere) as a "DRM-free" version would be distributed as part of the pledges. With that in mind I would expect the Mac version to be a free download as long as you had a valid commander. That's just purely speculation though. :)

Yes. One copy of a game (digital or physical) = one game account. People with activated accounts will be able to download installation files anytime regardless of version of the game. That's how I understood Michael's comments on KS on this matter.

I don't think it is a superior gaming platform. For one thing you can't just chop and change hardware as you could on a PC if Apple don't have the drivers for it in the OS. We have them at work for some members of staff and they are nothing more than vanity installs sadly. The love 'em but they just don't have a business case.

This is correct for platforms we can control distribution for, so for PC and Mac.

hi Michael,
Any ideas when the Mac version is coming - I am not sure whether to buy the Commander now or not as my PC laptop isn't really up to the job, whereas the Mac Pro Retina is definitely up there.

Some feedback on this would be good please.

Many thanks

Could you not use bootcamp? I am running ED on an iMac and it runs well.
