Macro for Docking Request

1, E, E, Space, S, Space, 1

I count 7 buttons for a Dock Request and hell yeah I use a Macro. It's ridiculous to have to go thru that silly sequence every 5 minutes when grinding.

If you use a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard, it's built in.

I am curious to know how many of us are using a macro for requesting docking in E: D, and what apps we are using to do it.
I rolled my own speech recognition software (which was surprisingly easy to do in C# ). VoiceAttack didn't work on my machine.
Speech2Keys is freeware if anyone wants to try it out. First tutorial (of three) here: (Download instructions in the text below the video. Executable, PDF user guide (and full source code) comes with the download)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDAEq4GhVNE

I use basically the same macro as you do (open contact view, pause, tab right, tab right, select ,down, select, tab left, tab left, exit UI) with an added 4 x pip to shields and 4 x pip to engines at the end...so I am always at 2 pips in shields and 4 pips engines....which is my "docking power setting"

I use a few macros besides docking requests:
- for various power settings (battle power, evasive power, defensive power, offensive power, full weapons, full engines, full shields)
- minimum and maximum sensors
- locking a target in the contact view (select, up, up, select...which will enage supercruise/hyperdrive as appropriate or simply aim for a new target if its in the same system and you are already in supercruise)
- setting a course for my main trading targets (open galaxy map, pause, tab right, type letters of target, enter, pause, right, select, exit galaxy map)
- opening system map (open contacts, left, down, select)
- launch (which is just exit, exit, exit, exit, down, down, select)
- battle stations (raise hardpoints, 4 x pip to weapons, 4 x pips to engines)
- belay battle stations (lower hardpoints, balance power, open contact view)
- serveral chat commands (open communications and type "hello commander" and similar)
- shut down power/turn on power (basically just opens system panel and goes "down, select" a bunch of times - skipping the life support)

Would probably be easiest and definitely least resource intensive and error prone to just to scan the memory, map data structures and hook certain library functions to trigger custom events and actions in the software, but what fun is that.

That may fall foul of any Warden processes and the like, which exist to try and foil debuggers/cheatengine (though the exploiters are disabling it easily right now). However, it would be horrid if you got banned for something as innocent as docking automation. FD already asked trade calculator authors not to poke around in-process- presumably for similar reasons.

I have a Logitech G110 keyboard. Not thought of using the macro functions. Anyone had experience with this keyboard or a similar one?
I have the G110, The macros work well enough. I find the editor that comes with it not particularly intuitive...but once you get the hang of it it works fine (though with voice control and an X55 which has just oodles of buttons I don't use keyboard at all anymore.

Why would anyone want a keyboard like that when you could use the X-55 and this:

Edit: And it only costs 8.5 times more.

Hey guys,
-
I am curious to know how many of us are using a macro for requesting docking in E: D, and what apps we are using to do it.
-
I personally use Voice Attack now on the command ‘Computer, request docking’, though I used to use my joystick software.
-
My macro does the following: 1, E, E, SPACE, S, SPACE, E, E, E, 1
-
Just to help others playing the macros; I have found that a pause and press time of 0.035s is the quickest you can get it and this only opens the contacts menu in the cockpit for a fraction of a second.
-
Are there any other ship functions that you guys use macros for?
Exactly the same but just "Request docking" / "Docking request" and also sets my Lights ON and Rotational Correction ON which is OFF for my "Go" macro including 4pips Enginess and Boost as my fastest getaway. I think R.C. should slow you down as it uses thrusters to correct rotation and is heard in normal flight to be at work but not doing anything of course but it should and therefore make good use of it's switch other than staying on or to gain quieter flight.
.
I also use macros for "Batllestations" and "Power" (for target powerplant which mostly gets there in reverse with 7 key repeats).
