Maia Thargoid missions

Speaking of Obsidian Orbital. I was there last night and every time I dropped in there was no warning on the hud that I was over the speed limit. I also never got a verbal warning from docking control until my last two or three runs of the palin mission.

Is that a bug or because the system is going through some political changes?

I followed this guide to setup my ship and plan my run, very useful info

Also you don't have to circle around Obsidian to get a new mission. You dock, you receive one (or not if unlucky ^^ ), you complete it or reject it, then you swap game mode, undock, get far enough ( around 4kms) to request landing, and redock.
That way you'll have a mission almost eveytime you re-dock, and it only take 3 to 4 minutes. Still quickly boring though ;)

I used my ASPX for most of my mission running on this. Just the 4 ton at a time Methode with CRCR’s. But I had a good enough Jump Range on her that it made it a one jump mission which helped with the time of each run.

That's the point, do it only when it pops up. Spent 2 weeks of what some refer to grinding in the area hauling passengers for the Feds, and lately it only popped in once, but it was a nice side trek from the usual activites. 24mils were a good incentive too. :)

To be fair, it got boring to me only after the first billion earned that way ^^ Trying to haul the largest quantity is the fun part.

For those of you that aren't getting any follow up missions from Palin after handing the previous one in at Obsidian and doing the board-hop, launch and re-dock routine, check that you have enough cargo space!

Palin gives you materials when you hand in missions and it can sometimes chew up any empty space you have, especially if you are using corrosion resistant cargo bays.

Apparently you need to have enough space to even get the mission (at least 4 empty to be safe).

I doubt it's significant, because at other ports I don't always get that warning.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Obsidian Orbital attacked by Thargoids soon ..... and Obsidian Ant announcing "thanks for watching, see you guys and galls next time."

EDIT - sorry, that's a digression.

I have DBX sat in storage that can jump 52ly and carry 16t of cargo - could i do these missions without Corrosive resistant CR?

How far is the jump from Obsidian Orbital to the HIP 17125 Scout

Ive never transported thrgoid stuff without the proper racks, but on this occasion I certainly wouldn't recommend it even if you have an AFMU on board. I was getting chased by standard NPC pirates and mission bonus pirates each run on the return trip.

Any hyperdictions? It seemed to me that I was getting hyperdicted more when doing the mission without CRCR, but probably RNG

No, actually. I did about 7 or 8 runs over two or 3 hours.

Oddly I did get hyperdicted on the way to Pleiades (went down for DD engineering a stack of drives) a couple of days before, and I don't think I even had generic cargo racks in the python at that point. I haven't been down there since 2.4 dropped, and I did get hyperdicted back then when carrying thargoid things, but I wasn't aware the goids would ever take an interest in you even if you werent carrying thargoid brand tech or the salvage goods they have a taste for.

I think they nabbed me leaving a system with an inactive surface site, maybe 150'ish LY out from Maia. It was only a coincidence the galmap routing took me through there. I had no idea there was a surface site in system but when I noticed some of the gas giants I did a quick google, found a site was listed and went down for a quick gander.

I was hyperdicted once carrying Resin to Palin. Managed to boost one time before i lost control of the ship and everything went off. Surprisingly the Thargs left me alone, ship rebooted and off i went unscathed.

If you boost before shutdown you usually get enough distance on them for them to lose interest and jump out as your ship keeps going while shut down in whatever direction you boosted. It's only if you stay put and shut down you might be in trouble.

Absolutely, it's good fun actually, racing against the clock before your cargo hatch corrodes and all your valuable cargo falls out. If you're gonna try it I'd recommend fitting an AFMU and keeping a careful eye on the integrity of the hatch. Repair it every time it drops much below 90%.

Last time I tried without CRCR I didn't find time to use it between the pirates and thargoids interdicting me. A quick reboot to get my sensors back before docking and a peaceful flight with no canopy for the last few minutes made it perfect :)
