Main C&P thread, please post C&P related issues here.

I just made 7 million killing pirates in a system while mostly mat hunting but I did the local law a favour.. I get a 600 cr bounty for one bullet hitting a boosting npc bounty hunter who wasnt harmed and I am 100ly from nearest ISF in my 15 ly FDL. I cant even refuel at the station (luckily I always use a fuel scoop) or would have to self destruct.

This CP system is not thought out, is moronic and stupid. It isnt realistic for small "crimes" to be punished like this and simply isnt fun gameplay.. Under 2000cr should be treated as a fine and paid off at nearest system. Or allow us to pay a bribe say 100 times as much to clear it. Most countries I lived in bribing the police or a judge is normal practice so would be in most systems away from central governments (eg a high security system). I can buy a judge for a 1000 usd so in a dystopian corrupt future why I am public enemy no 1 for nothing. Bribery would be rife for minor stuff.

LOL - what banana republic you from ? if we could bribe the coppers in the uk we would all be criminals .

Have you filled out a bug report? The game should have applied a "Reckless Weapon Discharge" fine.

The whole point is now the game is dangerous for not just them but for you/us.

It was well thought out because it’s addressing reckless behaviors that previously went unnoticed. I said when I first played this was the most unforgiving game I’d played on a server. That’s still the case however it’s also the most open game in terms of cause and effect, which is good.

FYI: I don’t think it should’ve applied a reckless because that is damage based among other factors.

what system are you in OP?

Not saying you are lying, but i find it hard to believe the nearest Interstellar factor is 100ly away..

Ill try to help and find you one closer.

Yeah, I have gotten the same bounty and it has happened with 1 or 2 multicannon rounds deflecting off a shield of a ship I never targeted... no harm no foul? I would say... but with every update we have to adapt to the new environment.

It's things like this that have me worried to use anything turreted on my ship when bounty hunting. I'd hate to have to pay an 8m+ rebuy costs because a stray round struck a system authority shield from one of my turreted weapons.

Has Frontier weighed in on this yet? I’ve received the dreaded 300 bounty for accidentally clipping an NPC as well. It’s annoying.

It's a GAME, not a simulation or even real life. Why do people take it so seriously?

Well the system is not working as intended. I pointed that out in a post that turned in to a rage storm from very smart people. “Check you radar and surroundings etc etc And git gut” Listen I’m not a beginner in combat. I have done it since day one. I can beat corvettes in my viper mk lll with easy. I’m not saying I’m the best, but I know what I’m doing. But everyone make mistakes. Even the best...For crying out loud the Ai does it too...
Frontier said in live stream that friendly fire was being addressed to make it less frustrating when accidents happened. People saying otherwise are lying. So they implemented this system where you had to do more damage to a target before it was seen as attempted murder. So you should only have been given a reckless fire discharge which is 600 give or take. And then you should be able to pay that at the station. But it doesn’t work always.
Same thing happened to me. I fired a missile at a pirate from 5 km. Out of the blue a dumb Ai anni went straight in to the path of my missile. I got issued the fine. No biggi I thought. I’ll just pay that off at the Station. BOY WAS I WRONG! Everything was locked. Plus I did not have my travel fsd equipped so I was stuck at the station. So I had to blow my 36 mio credits ship up along with my crew. Cause I couldn’t remove him either... Over a stupid 600 fine! THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO PAY AT THE STATION!
So yeah it doesn’t work as intended all the time... But smarty pants in here will tell you to bla bla bla instead of sticking to the fact and point, that THE NEW SYSTEM IS BUGGED IN SOME CASES.
Had it just worked as intended then I had zero problems with it.
But now I’m completely avoiding bounty hunting which was my main thing... Plus I’m done helping out commanders who are getting ganked by killers. Cause I’m not gonna risk my neck at all. Especially not if a friendly fire is punishing you just as hard as murder.
This new crime system would be great IF IT WORKED as intended. But it does not atm. And people can get angry for me saying so, but that still doesn’t change it for being bugged.
Back when I Adressed the falling skimmers that would destroy your ship when they crashed down on you, people also called me a lot of things. But that was a bug which kept many people from landing at planet bases.

People don’t like if you point out stuff about their favorite game. Especially things that are bugged. Which makes no sense. They will call you a cry baby or other stuff... Cause they can’t handle it. Which actually just makes them the biggest joker in the game... In order to make Elite the best space game and keep it that way, then sometimes we must look at the bad stuff. The new crime system is a completely new feature. And it sounds super on paper, but sadly it is bugged... But god forbid you saying that...
Anyway I’m playing Astroneer and deep rock galactic now instead, and soon surviving mars when that one comes out in a week. I’m just checking the forum as a bad habit to be honest.

Yes on one of the more recent live recordings they talked about it. In short they are open to feedback and there are ways in the game to avoid this. One Sandro mentioned was the mod that made your hardpoints not hit friendly targets.

Also they mentioned ideas to the effects of not holding down the trigger and instead shoot when your certain.

Yes so? I’m perhaps making an assumption here. But do you bounty hunt? If you do then chances are you would have noticed that the crime and friendly fire system is not working completely as planned. He should only have been issued a “reckless fire discharge” Which the feature should have allowed him to pay off at the station in the system. But sadly it does not work. Not always.

So yeah he may be annoyed over this glitch but so what? You got worked up yourself by him pointing out a new feature that does not work correctly... do you think glitches go away if we don’t talk about them... Sure bug report. But a lot of people are still not aware of the issue. Plus this glitch is really annoying. People can’t risk to bounty hunt... sure a space trucker probably don’t care about that. But who does he ask for help if he gets ganked? He will ask bounty hunters, who are afraid of deploying hard points now, cause one tiny mistake will be punished as murder now, cause if this bug. o7

I'm reading all this trying honestly to have some empathy...or even sympathy.... and all I'm seeing is that you lost your ship because you crippled it intentionally by running an undersized FSD in order to farm bounties.

You keep saying that you should have been able to pay that 600cr fine off in the station. Nope... you used to be able to do that... note the emphasis on the term because since FDev changed the C&P system...a system change you well knew was coming and what it entailed...namely flying to a broker to pay off fines/bounties with local station services being locked...you still insisted on flying a crippled ship not able to make the system jumps to pay off a paltry 600cr fine... and it's purely because the entire C&P system is broken you had to blow your ship up?

I don't think so...

I had exactly the same scenario...except of course I wasn't flying a farming ship with a size 2 FSD. I got the fine for reckless fire and simply looked on Inara for the nearest broker and flew the few LY over there to pay off the fine. What's broken about that?

Nothing is certain in combat. The coin can flip in a sec. You can be the most professional and disciplined gunner in the game, and suddenly a rogue ship comes in to the picture. And if you already fired a round or missile then it is game over. He should only have been given a reckless fire discharge. And he should have been allowed to pay that 300-600 fine at the station, ergo restoring his service privileges... But the feature does not really work as intended. And to be honest I think people ignore the fact on how big of an issue this can be for bounty hunters. This new crime system was made to punish killers hard by locking them out from service making them have to travel to new systems. But friendly fire is not killing so they should be allowed to pay that at the station. But it does not work always... Hell I got a 300 fine for for going 103 m/s when the police rammed me full speed. I turned back to pay the fine. Which I couldn’t. So now I’m locked from that system too... Come on do people really think that is the idea of this system... people say this game is a grind. Well it just became a lot grindier cause of this. I’m completely avoiding this game for now. Last time I had to destroy my 36 mio ship and crew for a silly 600 credit weapons discharge, which I should have been allowed to pay at the station...
People can say what they want ofc, but the crimes are not triggering correctly atm. Sorry.

They are...it's you who isn't learning very fast or are too determined that everything is broken rather than adapting to the new system...it's not that difficult, seriously.

let me make this simple.

The first time where I had to blow my farmer ship up as u call It. I got a “reckless fire discharge” and 600 fine.
I went to station and everything was locked. No chance to pay the fine.

I have recreated the exact same scenario but in a much cheaper ship. Did the same damage to the police. Got a “reckless fire discharge” and a 600 fine.
i went back to station. Everything was locked EXCEPT the contacts window. I payed of my fine and all services was restored back to normal. Same system btw.

im not asking for sympathy or a cry cookie. I’m just addressing that there is something not right here.

So in short we have two exact same scenarios with same crime status and fine, but two different outcomes. Something is wrong in this picture.
So you tell me Mr. Mole. Why is that not wrong?

Lets not pull each others hair out before Frontier comes back at us with more info.

I believe Niels, i also had a missile finding his target and a Anaconda authority ship catches it instead, i also could not pay of the fine in that station, but i needed to find a interstellar broker.

And i agree with Mole, because, interstellar brokers are everywhere, unless you are flying in the outskirts like Exphiay or something like that, you never far form one.

I thought we were supposed to get a new "reckless weapons discharge" fine? Did that not actually become a thing? Is the threshold just too low and need tweaking?

Yes there is, I guess its all about the threshold.....
