Major Sector searchable map

I have a question, apologies if there's an answer to it somewhere, but I couldn't find it: how many sectors are there in total? I'm asking because I did another per-sector breakdown of natural ELWs (will be publishing that soon), and I wonder how much of the total is that.
If you're curious: on 2018.05.30, there were 6,352 sectors with 75,709 ELWs found. On 2019.05.30, it's 7,246 sectors with 138,108 ELWs.

The galaxy occupies a cuboid of 64x64x6 sectors (24,576) but obviously a lot of those don't have any stars in.

There are I think 10,022 with at least one known star on the June map.

@Ian Doncaster: The sector map seems to be broken since January. As I use this lovely map from time to time I'm wondering if it has been abandoned or you just might not be aware that it's currently not working? Thanks :)
Yes, the EDSM files I was downloading aren't available any more - and were getting a little large to process - and I haven't yet figured out what to do instead.

No promises but I'll try to find time to look at it over the long weekend.

Okay, we're back! I managed to miss that EDSM was now understandably compressing the full data files so the URL had changed.

Main visible change since December seems to be that most of the between-arm sectors in the NW quadrant have now passed the 1000-system threshold, and some of the mid-popularity routes and nebulae continue to rise.
