Atmospheric worlds are THE content that EDO gives, (You don't think anyone bought it for FPS do you?) And yes it is worth it, (at least to me) I suspect there will be a sale in New Year so a good opportunity to get it then (depending on your provider).
You can spin it any way you want it, the facts are not going to change. Tenuous atmospheric planets are a core Odyssey feature. This is not going to change, however much you try to bend it. I suggest you come to terms with that.
Already said: go back to 3.8 legacy, that's what you've paid for.

Yeah, Atmospheric planets are Odyssey. You want to defend that port, wait for the next steam sale. Otherwise, you cannot defend that port.
There are plenty of others to defend though.
@Kayvan I'm really curious... what did your current system cost? And why do you care for those few bucks more or less?

The difference is: It is on an atmospheric planet. It's not that hard to understand.

At this point, you should give up. This is not going to change. There is no argument you can make that will convince Frontier to give you Odyssey for free. And for what it is worth: I have no interest in on-foot combat either. I still bought Odyssey, because I am interested in landing on atmospheric bodies and Exobiology. Odyssey is a bit more than on-foot pew-pew.
Easy - it differs because FDev say you can't do combat at a planetary installation without the Odyssey expansion and frankly, that's all there is to it. Now stop being such an utter child, for God's sake. Have some self-respect man.

If you are on Steam just choose one of the "usual suspect" key resellers and you're good to go to those fights for about a tenner...

How many times have you already been told, the same as I have just told you, it is Odyssey exclusive content... You haven't paid for that content, you are not "entitled" to that content, you are not going to get that content while it remains exclusive to Odyssey.
