It is so long ago that I can't remember the details. I actually thought that it was part of the Kickstarter package. In a way it was with the free upgrades that came with it.
Do you have figures to back up your "most of us" statement?

The reason (I think) that this isn't going to happen is that it just isn't worth the grief FD is going to get if they did make the Cobra Mk4 available to all - despite the promise of exclusivity.
All they have to contend with now are repeated threads on it which are easily ignored then forgotten - till the next thread comes along.

Makes sense. Shame they didn’t take an opportunity to release an identical, but reskinned ship under a different manufacturer.
this. just put in on the store for a ridiculous amount. some inane youtuber or twitcher will buy it and will get the ball rolling. frontier can use the money to buy 100+ cases of powerdrink and 100+ footrests and we can close the circle and all have a good laugh.
They could make a Cobra IV bspec with fixed speed and make it available to all.
My commander Rick Sanchez is a real slumlord and only flies spitty little small ships.. (plus the awesome T7 and the SLF wrapper that is the keel back)
As such, the Cobra MKIV is THE BEST -non combat- multirole for him... It's awesome for mining, delivery CGs and exploration (range is not so great) but DAMN, It's got 8 internals, which means it can fit a decent Fuel Scoop, an SRV, 2 AFMUs, Shields, DSS and not to mention the GFB... And wait: Now there is no ADS, it still has room for a VIP passenger or two to take places for awesome long distance PAX missions... And THAT's in a small ship.
Basically, he could complete every play style except SLF flying in this awesome little ship with 88T max cargo.) Max it out engineering wise and you have a formidable little beast to play with..
It's just a shame that even though its's a new ship, it copied the old battered cockpit of the original namesake (IIRC), like the VMkIV and the T10.
Personally, I think it should finally be made available to everyone and would be more than happy to petition for that to happen.

TBH I always class the KB as a really fat small ship as it uses the same internals the Cobra IV mainly etc.
As a long term Cobra IV I can honestly say I'm on the fence about releasing it for everyone. I can understand the exclusivity 'promise' of it but wouldn't be too fussed if it was released and give us a special paint for it or something...
I dare say if I didn't have access to it I may think differently.
Ultimately though if they released it the main thing that would happen is the amount of whine on the forums about how bad it is would go up as you'd get all the special snowflakes who don't understand what the MK IV is all about whine about how slow it is!!
What hits me hardest is that NPC's fly it around and wave it in your face. I missed out on this as I found Elite by Accident when looking for a replacement controller, and only got the game just as horizons came out (Literally like a week after). so no MK4 for me

How does your quote fit with the fact Xbox Horizon owners got the Cobra MK4 after the PC "joined us in the first year"?
Unless it was their for having faith in their first year of the game's availability.
But in either case, PS4 Horizons owners have never been even offered the chance of the Cobra MK4. Even if they showed faith by buying in the first year of their availability.
Question to those thinking the Cobra MK4 should remain exclusive: Should it be made available to PS4 owners who pre-ordered or bought in their first year?

They've been exclusive since Horizons beta and I think it should be open to all to buy when FDev introduce the next paid-for season - we're coming up to three years* and I think that is a long enough exclusive period. For me it seems absurd to keep the ship exclusive until the end of time, plus there will be benefits for existing owners in terms of a better selection of paint packs and maybe a ship kit. The paltry selection of paint packs is one of the worst points of ownership in my view, and I'm sure it's been neglected by FDev due to the limited number of owners still active in the game.
FDev could compensate existing owners with an exclusive paint pack and maybe a decal. Honestly, that seems reasonable enough to me.
*I checked the dates and the Wiki says "It is only available to PC players who purchased Horizons before February 5, 2016 (this also includes Lifetime Expansion pass holders), and to Xbox One players who purchased the Horizons season pass before July 30, 2016"

I too am a Cobra MkIV owner and I would like to see it shared with all CMDRs, regardless. Maybe it could be a loyalty bonus, say on reaching your first Elite ranking, as a treat from the Pilots Federation?
Three years is a long time... it should be released to all.
And they could compensate original MKIV owners by giving them a souped up one with either an extra internal slot, or upgrading the central weapon to a bigger class, or 50mps speed / agility boost.
