Make Fleet Carriers not show on the system map

That already exists. Go to the system list where it says the locations of has Rez and ports. You'll see a square with lines in it under filters. Press it and select everything but fleet carriers and your done.

100% Agree!!!!

Nav Panel AND System Map both need an option for “show carriers only if they belong to me, someone in my squadron or someone in my current wing”

Fleet Carriers are essentially stations, fixed system assets for the duration of the time they are there, I'm not sure it's possible for FDEV to easily filter out some stations and not others, it may not be as easy as everyone seems to think by just saying...."make a filter".

It is easy, because this filter already exists for the Nav Panel. They just need to apply it to the system map as well. It's technically extremely doable. It's not a complicated thing, given how software works.

I would suggest from my observation that's not how it works, that's nothing like how it works. The system is generated procedurally, the nav panel list doesn't exist until after the system assets are generated, it's created as the system is explored. If you jump into an unexplored system your nav panel is empty except for the stars, nothing. As you explore using the FSS or however you decide to do it the system assets are added to the nav panel list, but in essence it's just a list created as you explore, and it's easy to filter lists. Now you can tell me how you use the nav panel filter to filter out something that doesn't actually appear in the nav panel list. The nav panel list follows the creation and exploration of the system, not the other way around.

I always think how amazing it is that forum posters have such a deep understanding of how the game works. I don't understand how it works so I'm certainly not in a position to tell the devs how easy it is to do things with their own software.

Don't hide in private messages, you got something to say then say it, private messages are for my friends. Understand this, if you can't say it in public then don't say it in private messages, that doesn't make it better, it just makes it creepier!

Persisting in private messaging me even when I told you it was for friends only isn't gaining you internet points, any future private messages I will consider public.

The mods have repeatedly asked that forum posts remain about the topic at hand, not about other posters. I'm going to respect that. Internet bravado has nothing to do with it. :)

I would prefer to have them reduced to a single expandable carrier icon with a number of carriers on it, one per each body. And if one wanted to reveal all carriers present near a body, they would just click on the icon.

There probably are technical challenges, certainly - if it was really easy they'd have done it already - but the system map can already filter out objects based on particular criteria, as it hides or shows planets not merely based on their type but on whether someone has FSSed them or not ... and doesn't show engineer bases (also a station) if you don't have the invite.

So there certainly seems to be some "is the player allowed to see this?" layer already going on in the system map.
