When one stumbles across life pods currently, there's no impetus as to why you might wish to pick one up and bring it to a rescue contact. It's just sort of "there" and you have to decide what to do with it - without the game explaining to you what you can do with it. (This is particularly poignant when collecting life pods for the engineer in Colonia.)
So, it would be cool if when a player nears a spot that has life pods in it (crashed ship, broken megaship, combat aftermath, etc.), they receive a message like this:
"Finally, someone came! we're out of life support, pick us up in our life pods and take us to the nearest contact, I'm sure they'll reward you for your time. Please help us!"
Or perhaps a more automated S.O.S. type of message that says the same thing but in an automated-machine tone (since the lifepod may have been keeping the occupants frozen/unconscious for quite some time).
The point is, it would make the moment feel more organic and lifelike, and also lets the player know what they can do with the lifepods. An easy win/win addition!
