Make the Bulletin Board an actual Bulletin Board for CMDR use

CMDRs should be able to leave messages on the bulletin board in each station so that other CMDRs could read about any pertinent data for the system such as "Support this faction" or "Beware of enemy CMDRs in this area" or "I'm putting a personal bounty on CMDR so and so". This would be a great way for the serious players to also get messages across to the players who might inadvertently be working against a factions wishes AKA (Fifth Column) i.e. "DO NOT FORTIFY GROOMBRIDGE". Obviously messages like "Call 555-5555 for a good time" would not be allowed. Each week, the bulletin board at each station would be cleared.

The current Bulletin Board could then be renamed "Missions" since that is what you actually find there.

I thought about this idea too. This forum is great but would be nice to have something in-game to make it feel more alive. Like a commanders hang out with tips and rumours and stuff. But I agree it would be a lot of work to moderate.

I read somewhere that it's possible for players to submit items for the station news feeds. Maybe this is something that could be explored further...

I suppose you might be able to create some sort of system whereby you could create message from a series of building blocks, rather than just being able to freely type text. Would need quite a bit of work though, I'd imagine, and I bet somebody would find a way to abuse it.

Pretty much this.

I mean who is going to read all of them to check they are ok, despite the whole "online interactions may not reflect the rating" message the game is still very much trying to remain family friendly. I mean a war could start on Friday after the Developers leave and be over and done by Monday so the Dev couldn't authorise a "support faction X" message before it becomes pointless..

Possibly something that could be looked at in the future but for now I'd prefer to keep the players out of what I see in-game. I already have irks at some of the galnet stuff but I may have a personal vendetta against it.. :p

Why not restrict it with your status to the system? Like friendly or wathever rank higher than Neutral grants you access to make posts on the board?

It'll be full of **** by definition, but if such is completely separate from the actually interesting (= current) board, sure - especially if you can switch it off to never be seen ever again.

Bump for FDEV to get one more look...maybe they can figure something out.

They could always make posts reportable if someone gets offended and then they could take it down...IDK...

That's how it works in the Dark Souls series. Then we would get, just like in those games, every message ending with " ... , but hole."

So yeah, people would find a way to abuse it. I think we should just be able to view the forums on that screen between our legs.
