making money is too time consuming

I suck at trading, so i try to do bounty hunting but when i jump into the unidentified signal source i shoot the damn enemy but i get no reward?? then i try being a pirate but the only thing that does is make me wanted, I cant even pick up the loot after killing someone either, the game dosent even tell you how to pick up the damn loot, on a side note theres no tutorial!!!!!!! sure i love flying around in my spaceship and seeing all the eye candy, and i know this is a beta but i played alot of betas and most of them turn out to be just like the beta, heres hoping ALOT of fixes are going to be made before release. (also I get alot of damn motion sickness when i stop playing.)

If you search this forum, there are many posts with tutorials and explanations about details of how to succeed. It is a bit of a steep learning curve. And this game differs somewhat from other betas as it is not a near-finished version of the final game. It is an actual beta, warts and all. Proper tutorials are work in progress!

Yes, there is a lot of posts to trawl through. You might be able to search focussed on whatever you want to learn more about.

Not sure I can help with the motion sickness. Sit further from the monitor?

Trading requires you to buy low and sell high. That's a bit slow starting in the sidewinder, but doable. We all started there. Buying tea and coffee (and fish) in agricultural worlds and selling them in industrial areas work well. Buying crop harvesters and such to take back to the agricultural worlds should bring a profit too. Keep an eye on possible emergency buys in the bulletin boards. Some places repeatedly have dire needs for the same item.

You should be able to cash in a token at the local security office after destroying a ship that was wanted. Look in your missions roster after doing the kill.

Pirating works best by going to a navigation beacon, scanning down a wanted hauler, Cobra, T6 or T9, and putting holes in them until they dump their cargo trying to escape. If you can kill them before they escape, you get the reward chit, as well as the opportunity to scoop up their drops. Just remember that the loot is now technically stolen, so don't get scanned going back to base.

Also, play through the tutorial missions to learn some of the dog-fighting. There is a bit of a written tutorial there as well.

Also, what system you're in and who you kill make a big difference in whether you get credit, no credit, or a wanted status on you. Some pilots will look clean in some systems, but if you have a kill warrant scanner, you can see if other systems will pay for their demise or not.

There's no official manual because a lot of these things change as they add to the game, so why write something up that will be wrong later. But there's a lot of player made documentation to be found out there.

You have a cargo scoop. I forgot what key it is bound to, check your controls menu. Lower it (or deploy it?), and you get a little crosshairs thingy. At low speeds (30-50 m/s), with the cargo cannister centred in the cross hair, it will be sucked into your cargo hold when you get close enough.

Please note that the scoop is on the underside of your ship, so use the blue crosshairs on your left side for centering, not your windscreen.

The beta is unfinished, its meant for testing, it wasnt really suppose to be played to reach any sort of endgame.

Most of the game is missing, you are focusing on bits of the game that exist and trying to play those as if its complete.

Its possible to buy bigger and better ships, thats about it, so that is your only focus or goal so its 100% grinding for ships. And because there is nothing really else to do inbetween, its just none stop ship grinding and its become a chore.

Hopefully in the real game making money will take even longer, but it wont be as focused and repetitive cos you will have plenty of things to do inbetween and making money and buying ships will be a side quest you wont even realise you are doing most times, money will come more naturally and it will feel like you hadnt really grinded at all.

I dont care what other betas you played, this beta is not feature complete. So it cant be compared to feature complete betas.
