Newcomer / Intro Making money mining

What a lot of very useful information in one thread, Sapyx's post in particular has made me want to have another go at mining.

Mind you, the last time I went mining was in 2015 in a Hauler in the days before limpets (had to use the cargo scoop to collect the rock fragments). Mining was in those days considered not only a viable but a good way for new players to build their bank balances so as to be able to afford ships like a Cobra. It took a while.

I know you're asking the others, but to add the to convo on mining, but I use my python as a mining ship - ............

Ditto - Python is my go-to mining ship. Tried it in a T6 with a new commander recently and my brain nearly melted from the tedium of mining with class 1 lasers.

I make roughly 4 or 5 million for an hour's mining in a pristine metallic ring. More if I've got a few missions.

I made 100 million mining for the CG last week, though 30 of that was the CG reward.

Interesting. I did one stint for that CG and got about 70T in my Python. To my surprise, I made top 50% of commanders and got a massive bonus (12 million I think). That's after I had been doing the combat CG for which I got 120 million in bounties and 31 million bonus for top 10. I was making about 6 mil per hour in bounties, so the CG increased that to 7.5mil/hour, which is peanuts compared to doing certain types of missions.
