Mamba advice?

Neither of these statements is completely accurate I'm afraid. Drive distrubutors has been proven over and over again to be INFERIOR to drag drives for maneuverability on any standard thruster ship (the myth stems from some very lightweight small ship builds which accelerate better with Distributors ONLY when using EPTs). Regarding speed and its relationship to maneuverability, as long as you are over 590 top boost speed you are still getting close enough to optimum thruster performance that you are not at a disadvantage, 590 is a heavy build (if using drag drives) but still not heavy enough to interfere with handling. Interestingly, you can start to realise some acceleration benefits from distributors when your build goes hugely overweight as well, but the bottom line is anything that increases boost speed, affects agility and acceleration the same way.

Going lightweight on life support is a bit of a no-no in serious pvp, just one accidental pa or railgun hit will take it out in one shot. But going lightweight on A rated sensors is definitely recommended, as sensors cannot be sub-targeted.

See above...

Yeah I just tried my config on EDSY and then changed the Drag Drives to Drive Distributors and it was a couple of points worse.

I'll just leave the drives as they are.

Idk, if you’re gonna use 3 large and not the huge HP, why not just use a krait II and have 2 mediums?
Because the mediums are not on top of the ship. To be fair the Krait mediums do work quite well for frags compared to other lower hemisphere hardpoints, but it's a real shame not to put railguns on those hardpoints. The advantage of keeping the frags on top of the ship, means you can hit anything on your field of view. The mediums need to be pointed at the enemy to get the gimballs to snap, so reduces the main advantage of gimballed frags (to hit off angle). As a general rule though, as I mentioned, the best frag boats are those with a lot of upper hardpoints. The Krait does work quite well though, but not quite as good as the mamba. My own Krait is three large frags and two railguns and is truly awesome.

The build in the post that I quoted had a mamba with small rails and 3 large frags. My point was why not use a krait and have 2 medium rails and 3 large frags.

For whatever reason it kills me to not have a huge weapon in a huge hardpoint. Perhaps they should jut make a class 4 frag ;)

At some point I'll try a Frag loadout but atm I'm having plenty of fun with my huge beam and four MCs.
Overheating is hardly an issue either, only once in a while I get a message "temperature critical" but nothing drastic, it happens to other ships too.

An extra class 4 or 5 slot would be nice for housing an SCB but overall I'm happy with the Mamba.
I've got a class A shield generator at the moment and am thinking of changing that to bi-weaves with fast charge though.

Frag loadout is very efficient. Deals massive dmg, doesn't require much attenntion on the WEP side, so you can have three bars on SYS and ENG. If you have access to the Pacifier frag do not hesitate to use that gun on the huge hardpoint. Instead of Pac. frag you can always use huge plasma for long distance engagement and four frags when you're close - that is very optimal setup. I'd skip the lasers, they generate too much heat and most people have 50-60% on thermal resistance.

As I said, I dont fly it myself, this is what I have seen ppl using and it works really great for them.

If I was going to build my own I would probably replace those gimballed frags with pacifiers but that is because I much prefer fixed weapons. Its a build I might actually try.

Mamba does have some other advantages over Krait2, 6 Utilities, bigger shield, faster. And I thought OP asked about Mamba specifically ?
