Man, for gods sake., D: Stop those thursday attacks!

Without even mentioning the Elephant in the Room (Lack of Thargoids when we get there)

If each station had its own UNIQUE voice overs for the controllers, some added drama here and there that made each visit a new experience overarching over the standard gameplay, that would help.

But... It is clear at this point (was clear to me with the first three) that these are "Cookie-Cutter" events. Each one identical to the last. Same controller voice for every single station. Same VO script verbatim on approach and while inside the barrel and hangar. Same process for rescue and the same for salvage.

Same, Same, Same , Same.

Now we have had enough of these to start seeing that even the station damage of each station type is pretty much identical to the last. All the Orbis stations missing a part of their habitation ring are always missing that exact same portion of that ring. Same amount gone from the same exact place.

I have visited all of these previously, but I said after the last batch that those would be my last.

This is the epitome of the old saying... "If you've seen one, you have seen them all"

While it was impressive on first encounter, once you start to see how much duplication/copy/paste is going on here, it becomes rather MEH. Which is sad since this could have been so much more dynamic than it is! :(

I suppose the most obvious question being, how do we know fer certain it was the thargoids if nobody actually saw them? In this world of false propaganda, would it be such a stretch to wonder if the superpowers were spreading false rumors?

And then theres the little detail about there not actually being an invasion...unless they invading their own sector in which we migrated too. Meaning that humans are the invaders as we are not native to that region.

Food fer thought ^

It's in the "trailer" they put out, you see them on the feed along with the fleets of ships the station launched to defend its.... oh that's right, they didn't because FDev can't think of a story that makes sense.

And can you rescue all the people or is it, as I suspect, an infinite supply of never ending occupants that all get rescued by the following Thursday?

Nice idea...wouldn't that be lovely.

However, it's not going to happen in the Q1 update and honestly looking at the road map so far there is no mention of any work being done on the BGS which for me is one of the key things they should be working on.

IMO Beyond needs to be a 'root and branch' reworking of the BGS along with a bunch of other core stuff like system security levels, NPC interaction / communication.

Until that work on the BGS happens the 'thursday' implementation of 'content' is all we are going to get.

Well, there's nothing in my suggestion that means Thursday ticks can't see the movement/update of the game board. It's just that CMDRs would be able to actually play some larger and ideally more interesting role in the outcomes, other than carry X to Y after the invisible attacks.

I've heard mixed feedback about this, so I'd be interested to know...

That still doesn’t explain the so far missing invasion...unless they invading their own region to evict the squatters...wouldn’t we have done the same if squatters moved into the bubble?

Too many awkward questions with no answers...cya next Thursday ^

I'm with you. I greatly enjoyed the first wave of attacks, and I was making pretty good credits rescuing people in my Type-7. But after weeks of the same thing over and over,

The Thargoids can have the Pleiades. After all, it's not like our actions have any actual influence on this pre-scripted story.

But FDev don't run story's that hold your hand....

Nobody has ever confirmed you can rescue everyone and people here have done them so it's safe to say, you can't rescue them all and in fact I'd go further and say that the station is switched to just generate RNG passenger missions over and over.

Since these are basically using the Passenger Mission mechanic, my money would be on INFINITE numbers of passengers to rescue.

Another area of these that could have had a lot better implementation in order to give these a bit more sense of realism and drama.

I don't think there's much of a story tbh. Thargoids just showed up where they weren't before and they kidnapped one human and put him in a station they attacked and forced him to communicate to every ship that docked. They kept him around for the next station.... and the next station....

Thursdays are when the servers are down for the weekly maintenance.... The PERFECT time for sneak attacks!

- Thargoids only attack when the servers are down for weekly maintenance.
- FDEV shuts down the server for weekly maintenance.
- Ergo, FDEV is behind the Thargpoid attacks.

People, we don't have to fight the Thargoids, we have to fight FDEV!!!

Its a tricky situation, stability wise one day where major things are done with programs are better then something that is rolling.

That said, maybe they could seed certain things like events from that 'work' day so it plans ahead and activates them at certain times?

It means FDEV don't actually have to show us how the Thargoids attack the stations, and the ensuing fight. Otherwise they'd have to actually pull their finger out...

If I were a programmer, I'd do it. Alas, I'm not, and FDEV is doing its best.

Attending a live event would be WAY cooler than being told about it on the news, but if Mr. Braben thinks it's too much for them, who am I to say otherwise?

We COULD have a volunteer program for players interested in joining in with the FDEV crew during these hypothetical live events to "fly" or in some other way command Thargoid ships in a battle for the benefit of the community. Problem: segregated servers! We have private groups, Open, solo, and a CQC nobody cares about.

Clearly no easy solution at present.

*EDIT* On second thought, it was a stupid idea. Whatever they do, it has to be a "mechanical" solution that works for everybody. AI alien ships dropping in at regular intervals to launch missiles, rays, whatever it is they use to attack stations with, and players have a choice to tackle the invading swarms in waves.

It's still a bad solution, tho. You won't be seeing any real damage to the station until after the week of the "attack" phase - well, maybe a few cosmetic explosions here and there wouldn't be too much trouble to do -, but it's better than just READING about it.

Thargoids don't feel threatening as it is.

Attacks or just the aftermath of attacks?

Always a Thursday lol. There’s something so British about it all.

Well, frontier have displayed the ability to have a few things like this happen without server refreshes needed. Perhaps one day they'll bring out a patch and this will be one of the notes? I hope...
