General Gameplay Management panel - in-game fake social media feed that reflects park stats and guest experiences

Your Feature Request / Idea
What if in addition to stats and ratings, the Island Management panel also had a more flavourful method of conveying the state of your park and visitor experiences?

My initial thought was: maybe you could have dynamic newspaper headlines that summarize major events in the park like "Jurassic World introduces Stegosaurus on Isla Tacano!" or "5 dead as Raptors escape enclosure at Jurassic World"... but then it was pointed out to me that newspapers are so 1993 and perhaps something more modern would be more appropriate for Jurassic World.

Which brings us to: * social media! *

What if the Management panel had a fake procedurally generated twitter-esque feed (call it Birdsite or Dinosocial or something like that) with short messages from visitors mixed with occasional official Park tweets and news, plus photos that both you and visitors have taken. #dinoselfie

And if something goes wrong there's tweets with blurry badly framed pictures of dinosaurs eating guests and people tweeting they are safe in a bunker, followed by news tweets reporting on events and followed later by official park statements suggesting the disaster was greatly exaggerated and everything is fine...

This would be an additional way to convey the state of the park and visitor satisfaction, but with some more character and personality than just raw numbers. You could set up a simple-ish procedurally generated text bot that creates guest, news and official tweets based on the overall state of the park, dinosaur population, recent major events, new attractions, etc...

(keep it 140-280 character text + occasional photos only to limit the scope)

For reference, look at Spacebase DF9, though sadly unfinished it had an interesting feature which shows a generated social media feed ("Spaceface") for individual NPCs that reflects their state of mind and general feelings about things happening around the station. It's a colourful way to add some more personality to the anonymous crowds.

Basically this except not for one specific NPC, but a single feed for the entire park + outside news.

This would also be the perfect place to use photos the player has taken with the Ranger as they can be tweeted as official park photos (side note: it would also be cool if the game kept a gallery of photos you've taken, but I'm sure that's already been suggested before).

NOTE: I think it's important that this feature be entirely optional, in the sense that you could get essentially the same information by just looking at existing statistics if you don't care about the social media feed. It would just be there as extra flavour.

What do you think?

Something like this, but incorporated into the Island Management panel, or a separate section, alongside stats and ratings, showing a basic dynamically generated social media feed from park guests and occasional news and official statements + pictures... to add some flavour and personality to otherwise anonymous guests.

it is great , just like city skylines did , but it will draw less attention and will require a unnecessary update for the community ,
it still great tho i feel just it is unnecessary , the most important things is AI , and hehe may i say "dinos movement" why no one is realizing this. i mean like the movement is so limited the anims too , they need to add more , a lot more at least 3 variation in every single one

your request maybe added later after they add so many new variation in movement and animation and improvement in AI , im still encouraging base movement to be reworked (the details is great) lack in quantity , the dinos really need smooth turn while moving , frontier has already did it in some of the animals in zoo tycoon why not in JWE , thanks

I should add by the way that I feel strongly such a feature should not interrupt the game with pop-ups (and certainly not without asking) because non-essential pop-up notifications are evil. It should only be there in a special panel on the Management screen if you want to look at it.

So, what you're saying is "I don't really care about this and they should be doing other unrelated thing instead"? ... I'm not sure what the point is of using other threads to debate the urgency of your fave suggestions, given that there are already plenty of threads requesting things along those lines and the rule is ONE suggestion per thread.

I like animation as much as the next person - probably more (being an animator) - but this suggestion is not about animation. I made the request because I think it would be a neat idea if they have time, but I would be the first to say it is a non-essential nice-to-have sort of thing... though I'm sure Frontier are perfectly capable of determining priorities for suggested features (with a little help from thread ratings).

hmmm... im sorry for what i do wrong ,but i think im not really into it , because in cities skylines that features has no use , yeah i think i havent read the rule may i ask u to give me the source of it

btw , im not really meant to say i dont care as i do say

it just kinda.... yeah maybe i wrong

so may i say sorry , i was not able too fully understand it all , dont be too mad ok , good luck

Fair enough, no worries. I was referring to this. And like I said I do agree that's not really the focus of the game, the focus of course being the dinosaurs, but I do think it could make a nice bonus feature to add a bit more personality to the management side of the game...

Resurrecting this thread to post another example that could serve as a reference for this concept: Spider-man (PS4) has a really neat in-game fake twitter feed that shows up on the map screen (and you can expand it to see the full timeline). By restricting it to the map menu it doesn't get in the way of gameplay, but it's there for people if they want to get a sense of how the city feels about what's going on. It looks like it might be partially procedural and partially custom written for specific events in the game... or maybe they just wrote hundreds and hundreds of tweets.

I think it would be awesome if there was a fake social media feed that integrates the photography into the game. Such as scrolling through the feed and seeing the spinosaurus photo you took to help promote carnivores loving visitors into the park and reading the comments.

Yeah, it would be great if it re-incorporated the player's ranger photography as Official Park Photos, and also auto-generated some visitor photos (of varying quality) posted in guest tweets: selfies, dino snapshots and even amateur disaster footage, when dinosaurs escape. Perhaps add a Photo gallery feature so the player can sort through their photos and select which ones can go on the official fake twitter.

Definitely nice to have (feels like Cities Skylines), but unnecessary at the moment. The priority right now is Dino AI improvements + more complex management.

Would be great to see, actual customer feedback after visiting the park, would give a more realistic angle to the game and would be intresting to try and change their opinions aswell at the board of directors
