Managing the "Anaconda Idiots"

Managing the "Anaconda Idiots" what FD could do:

  • Changes to fines and bounties won't work because in game credits are meaningless to these people.

I suggest making increased use of the reputation system to control player behavior.

  • Weapons fire in station makes you hostile with controlling faction, large decrease in reputation with major faction.
  • No docking at this station again till reputation is improved.
  • Make sure it is a tedious long grind to improve reputation.
  • Make sure the station can actually destroy hostile player ships!
  • Confiscate offending ships on destruction and give a cash insurance payout instead.
  • Make a certain level of good reputation a prerequisite to purchasing large class ships.
  • Other minor infractions will still accumulate bad reputation and eventually limit game play options through reduction in ship choice, places you can dock and hostility of local police forces.
  • If you work hard you can recover reputation at the expense of time and much tedious grinding.

None of this stops people being "bad" but limits it by consequences that hurt and hinder repeat offending at the same location.

I'm sure there are other things that could hinge on reputation that could be implemented
this is just a few.

The basic idea is that your reputation kind of sticks even though you have paid your fines and
served your time. As in life you should suffer for having a bad reputation but redemption is
possible.

[h=1]"tedious grinding."[/h]Yeah we don't need any more of this.
A fix for this "issues" is as simple as making the stations inside turrets as strong as the outside. Problem Solved.

The people that engage in such activities need much more tedious grinding, it is good for the soul. Perhaps they will just pck up and leave, it's all good.

Considering everything they don't care about (which is, well, everything - they just like destroying things), why do you think they would care about these suggested penalties? :D

One of the suggested penalties was losing the ship and being unable to buy a new one of the same class until they improve
their reputation, stops them for a while even if they don't care about the penalty.

They don't need disincentives, the action just needs to be made impossible. Disable weapons inside starports, all problems solved. Why do we even have them enabled there anyway in the first place?

Man I'm so sick of threads like this, there is simply no way that FD can manage human nature and changing the game to suit your "save the wales" "give peace a chance" attitude should not alter or limit the possible options for other gamers.

Anaconda or not, it's the pilot that controls it.. there are more trolls in Vipers than the .05% of the population that owns Anaconda's. If you don't like what any pilot is doing.. gather some folks.. hunt them down and kill them... works for me..

I look forward to your video showing you taking down an Anaconda pilot camped at the back of a station in a cloud of chaff.

(Frontier never intended allowing players to get away with this but still havent strengthened defences enough)

oh shut up. stop trying to "control player behavior"
no matter what you implement you will always be annoyed by other people. this day is anaconda next its going to be sidewinders firing dumbfire missiles then kamakazing you.
think of those people as....terrorists.

by the way it takes 300 hours to grind to a anaconda, what on earth makes you think its ok to grind more hours for it??

No, that's the OP's point about "Anaconda Idiots". You can sit in an Anaconda spewing chaff and blasting other ships and survive for extended lengths of time. Boost out of the station, SC out and back and repeat. See the thread I linked too 4 posts up.

Or watch this;

Bro they already know about it... it's been discussed to weeks.. but the title specifies Anacondas.. but people have been doing this in all types of ships.. posts like this that target ships rather than a persons actions get ships nerfed for no good reason.. There are some things you just have to handle your self.. if you can't take the time out your precious day to go deal with this guy WHEN you can catch him.. why should we care..

Frontier want to stop all ships being able to do this. They've balanced things to stop the cheap dumbfire vipers but it's still possible in Anacondas. Hence the title of the thread. The stations defences need to be beefed up further.

It also hasn't been going on for weeks. It's been going on for months. It was stopped earlier then reintroduced by the addition of chaff and sheild cells.

If you don't care, why reply?

Have any of you "grrr murderers" folk ever considered why you could use weapons from inside the station in the first place? Because Fdev wanted it that way. It's called Elite: Dangerous , not Elite: Carebear Peace and Love Simulator. Don't want to play Dangerous? Go to solo or join a group like Moebius.

So, instead of just directly address the issue of internal station guns being broken by chaff (making them ignore chaff), let's add all these stupid penalties that affect legitimate play.
Uh huh, no thanks.

Its a good idea actually.
Everyone who doesn't like this kind of thing play in solo and group.

Boycott open until FD do something about it. (Send "griefers" to that "Griefer hell" as was planned)

Strategic thinking FAIL.

You will defeat your enemy when you destroy his strategy. In this case, when you make his pleasure (his pleasure in making you miserable) go away. Which is ridiculously easy to do.

Space is huge. How many "griefers" are there? They are hanging out by the watering-holes where "everyone goes" -- stop going to those watering-holes, and spread out in space and they will die on the vine because they'll have to wait 24-36hr before someone stumbles into their little trap. Kill them with boredom because the way they play is - boring.

I explore, mine, and trade (rares and regular items) in the edges of human space. I have not seen a CMDR for over a week. I've never gone out of open because I'm actually thrilled by the idea of encountering another human. If some "griefer" wants to travel 3000ly in exactly the right direction, come at me, bro!!!

Right but if I am not in places that are likely to see other CMDRs that what is the point of being in Open in the first place?
