Mandalay search-lights begone PeTiTiOn

I want to toggle them off as well. They are a pain for exo bio because you disembark right into them and, if it's dark out, you can't see beyond them (points for realism). That's too much light focused straight down; it makes no sense. If the ship is going to have spotlights, they should be angled outward, and gentler floodlights pointed down. Landing is done by instruments, and the illuminated area is mostly invisible from the cockpit. It's a wasted feature.

Those lights should turn on when we use the "Lights" command on the ship. Otherwise, I would prefer a very dark ship when landed.
and when they are at it:
1. please give us a dedicated switch for the ground lights and one for the main ship lights
2. give us a 'press & hold' option for the button (and perhaps for night vision and the landing gear, too). There are HOTAS out there which have a lot of flip switches which have wasted potential (yes, one can work around with VoiceAssist + EDDI but it is a pain).

Would be small things but greatly enhance quality of life and immersion.

Another one for the collection of absolutely ruined screenshots due to searchlight interference!
PLEASE kill these things... Let me turn them off.

I hope FDev gives us an ability to turn them off. At this point, it started to make me want to fly my Mandalay a LOT less.

There is a semi-workaround - EDHM-UI allows to change colour of the lights inside the cockpit - as a byproduct, it also changes the colour of external lights of the Mandalay.

Can't confirm.
I tried with different colours and the search lights remained white.

And I just found out that I wasn't flying my Mandalay since December. Anyway - yep, something changed, doesn't work now. There was an update to EDHM-UI not so long ago, so I've asked developers - it could have been an unintended side-effect of ambient light. It looks like now there is no more of this side-effect. I'll update if there would be more details, or if devs would want to make it into a feature.

It's a bit much for sure. I still think the blue beam-me-up Scotty cone is more annoying and immersion breaking. When I disembark I end up looking at my feet for a few seconds to avoid the never-ending blueness.

More info from the devs - It was an unintended side-effect either of an older version of the EDHM-UI or a Clear Screenshot Mod in it, or a combination of both. It's no longer there, and there is no possibility to differentiate between shaders for Mandalay lights and other lights (for example, in stations), so there won't be a feature. There could be a possibility to turn off lights with a hotkey in Clear Screenshot Mod, but I'm not interested in testing that, as it also turns on/off some of the other sources of lights in the game.

Back to asking Fdev for a solution, as there is nothing else.

Frontier please - make a manual switch for them, even as a part of Headlights, or as in SRVs with 3 states for headlights - everybody would be happier :D

Edit - yes, Clear Screenshot Mod (part of EDHM-UI) can turn off Mandalay lights completely, with a hotkey, but it also turns off other lights with the same shader, so it's only good to use occasionally for better screenshots, not as a permanent option and not for screenshots with the same shader lights.

That one though doesn't ruin screenshots when not outside the ship...
