Many stations removed since 1.1

A small number of stations were renamed to satisfy the ones purchased by some od the backers.

The bigger change was due to change in system ownership - the dynamically generated names use faction as one of the components in the name generation. We'll update this to allow changes to the system without changing the station names. In the shorter term we'll investigate a method to update the existing missions to put the right names in. You can still hand you missions in at the stations so in cases were there's only one station that's easy to tell.

Any logic to stations changing type (orbis 5o outpost etc)?

Name changes I can understand. (as mentioned above)
On my trade route, one of the stations has moved 1200 ls closer to the primary star, eventhough its still in orbit around the same planet :D

Really, I would of expected that with release the stations & systems would be locked down and only necessary changes would be performed. Not wholesale changes which add very little on the face of things.

Update: beaten by MB explanation.

Not really, the factions are intended to be able to change influence and control of a system. It makes sense that the Federation/Empire/Alliance could take over a particular solar system and it would be quite understandable if they renamed stations. The Devs need to make sure though that current missions can still be completed though.

As for the renames breaking trading tools, that is the risk you take in using 3rd party tools. Game changes can break them.

Unfortunately, the deliver missions I had to Sesuang weren't appearing in the Bulletin Board at either renamed station so I couldn't complete them. I was going to ticket this, but got blown up when leaving one of the stations (rubbed a T9 up the wrong way in the station exit! :) ) and forgot. The mission was to Sellers Terminal which is now Stillman Terminal.

Personally, I like the station name changes after faction changes - I was hoping to see a little guy in a space suit re-painting the name of the station with the Red Dwarf theme tune playing in the background... :)

Michael,

It is clearly more than a few station renames, see my post on HIP 12716 above (also ticketed #37358)

The mission overhaul is not a short term goal as it's a major update.

Michael

Any chance of some more details on schedule or priority? Are we talking 1.3? Personally I'd put the mission overhaul top of my wishlist.

Regardless of when it happens, I'd hope there will be a decent range of new missions to go with 1.2 so we have something to do in wings.

Bear in mind that if something is top priority but is going to take 6 months to get right, then it will come after something that is second priority but only takes a month. You can't just pour all resources onto one task and expect the timescale to come down linearly, sometimes adding more developers will delay a project. Developers on "wings" are likely to be networking people, whereas missions will be more to do with database and scripting work. Different people with different skills.

I'm a software team leader myself so I'm well aware of this. Which is why I'd expect either a target release or iteration. If it's really was a six month task I'd break that down into smaller deliverables or at least provide some extra missions in the existing framework to tide people over.

Hi Michael,

Less new features please and more fixes please. Cant't just keep having the Galaxay having whole space stations vanish.

Can't wait to see a NewsLetter and GalNet report covering the mega trade in get it up pills and vanishing space stations.
