The bug is annoying for mapping, you cant see what areas to hit next with probes. In terms of taking pictures, cant you just switch to combat mode?Don't pay attention to planet's visual overlay - mapping percentage is what you should take care. And yes, I have encountered that too - found unexplored system, with 2x WWs. Went to probe first, launched and got 100% coverage. Planet got blue hue as mapped. Then I went to 2nd WW. As I approached it already had blue "mapped" hue, but coverage was 0%. Probed normally, got 100%, cursing a bit about that hue covering planet surface so I can't get nice screenshot after mapping.
Can we have some toggle to switch off that overlay, for picture taking purpose?

How else can we find these? What does it mean to "map" a constantly-shifting gas giant, in the first place
The overlay is a bit OTT, it could be more transparent. Subtle?!
Switch to combat mode and turn off your HUD for the photos.
