Engineers Marcus Qwent - Why oh God why?

So... I'm just sitting here at New Horizons Orbital, having just raised my status with the Sirius Corp to "Allied." I've switched modes perhaps 100 times, and I haven't gotten the permit mission. Any ideas? Just keep mode switching?

On my two commanders, I immeidately got the unlock mission at the outpost in Sirius. The first time around, I kept trying at the station with no luck. With the second commander I went straight to the outpost and there is was.

Hideous...... every second of getting this invitation.
Once engineered up I'm gonna kill every Sirius Corporation ship I come across.

This may help: you get the invitation from the "O'Brien Vision" outpost in Sirius System, from the Sirius Corporation faction...... but only when he/she is ready, which for me was about 18 hours of play....

Marco Qwent is "Siriusly" the worst and most annoying engineer to rank with.

So you need to get an invite to Marcus Qwent from Elvira - so far so good.

But, you need to get a Sirius permit in order to get an invite from Marcus... hrm ok.

1st Bad design point: To get a Sirius permit you need to be allied with Sirius Corp which is fine, however you dont get auto granted one when you hit allied - oh no, it appears as a mission you need to accept, which of course may or may not ever appear to you.

So, assuming you managed to get the mission for the permit to spawn for you, you can now enter the Sirius system - YAY! So you filled with hope and expectation dock at a local station and look for an invite from Marcus.

Oh Noes! 2nd bad design decision - this also apparently appears as a mission you need to accept, which WILL NOT appear for me. So you have double locked RNG-tastic mission requirements over and above being allied with Sirius Corp.

Who ever though this was a good idea? This reminds me of trying to get Jboots back in the day (some of you may get the ref) - the Engineers themselves are RNG laden but why oh why make even accessing them subject to the same poor and annoying system?

So currently I am at a status of 'ARG' and just hoping the RNG gods deign to throw an invite mission my way after many many attempts at relogging/cycling mission boards and so forth.

If any good can come of my post, please consider changing this access method to an auto invite once you have the sirius permit which itself I think should be granted automatically once you hit allied status (similar to howyou get Fed permits etc when ranking up - you dont need to do a mission etc, they are just granted).

Anyone else suffering or has suffered in this manner with the elusive Mr. Qwent?

I did it recently and had the same problems. you just have to keep trying until the RNG gods start to feel sorry for you.

had problems with my permit too... contact fed, no response! Went on doin other things in game... come back eventually to sirius, first mission was he's, all smooth from there on!

That would have been outright cruel, especially delivering tea...

Probably one of the hardest engineers to get to.

Get to a set level with Elvira to get info about Qwent.
Get allied with Sirius Corp to get permit for Sirius.
Get mission from Qwent that takes you outside Sirius to get invite to his home planet.
Find 25 Modular Terminals to get him to start dealing with you.

As if finding 25 Modular Terminals alone isn't enough. The worst of it is that Qwent is usually one of the engineers you don't really want to deal with, his mods are mediocre at best and most people just want the stepping stone to Palin.

Don't give them ideas, FD would probably find it quite amusing, just like they already appear to find it amusing to make us do this stupid and time wasting dance every time we want engineers mods.
