I used to be an avid 1984 elite adict on the BBC micro... I managed to get my two nephews interested in the game (even though they were really REALLY young at the time..)

One of my Nephews emigrated to New Zealand... and we kinda lost touch for a bit... but I know he's still an avid gamer.

I knew he was into ED ('cos his mum told me) So the ED giftcard was his christmas prezzie from me...

Tonight I have just spent a couple of hours online - and as we friended each other I could find out where he was. - I flew over to his system and caught up with him - and we've just spent a fantastic few hours catching up with stuff and teaming up and taking down wanted commanders (but mainly wanted NPC's). Talking on the in game comms chat is fantastic!!

I must apologise to one commander though... - You were not wanted... and my mate DID have a bounty and you were totally justified in killing him... And the 8 missiles I sent your way were totally unjustified but family is family.... and the only way I can win at PvP is with missiles...

This latest patch has improved stuff 100%

I can see my friends most of the time in Open (havn't tried private since patch) we have to use skype though, no luck getting the voice comms to work. Good that you can use Elite to catch up with family.

We were just in open and voice comms were fine. We jumped to different systems and could still chat.

I never used voice comms 'till now - but it seems to work perfectly for me - looks like FD may need to tweak it a bit for everyone to use it...
