Mauve Adders are peer-to-peer issues if this occurs in private or open.
If you are behind a CGNAT or use Dual Stack Lite, port forwarding will not help. You either need to bother your ISP to give you a public static or dynamic IPv4 address, change your ISP or use a VPN that grants you such then forward the ports through this. Frontier doesn't have enough TURN relays to help everyone.

none of that in place - no port forwarding - been playing for years - the last patch buggered it good

Sorry to hear that. I can honestly say that it made huge difference for me.
Just make sure that Port forwarding is activated in game's options. I had it all set up long ago, but one of updates apparently messed it up - I've noticed unusually large number of those snake errors, decided to check in-game settings, and it was turned off.
Having good broadband does not mean you have a good connection to FDev servers (which are hosted on AWS, aka Amazon Web Services)
The internet is big and a lot of stuff could happen between your endpoint and the endpoint you're trying to reach
Sure, i'm not saying FDev is not having issues from time to time.
Last night in the Anomaly system there were a lot or crashes - but, at least for me, it resolved by itself in less than 10-15 minutes.
My UniFi Dream Machine Port Forward settings.... Port forward rule setup for ED. Looks like Sally is going to feed the mice on the Server wheel.
ok, but my advice is - check if port forwarding is active in game's options too.
In my case this option was turned off after some update.

As soon as Sally has feed the Main Frontier Server power wheel mice, all will be good and i can continue on my journey back from the Black and get my Palin visit.
if it would have been the issue with FDev servers, then everyone would have been affected... as it was happening last night in Oochorrs UF-J c11-0 when a lot of people got disconnected at about the same time.
but it seems that most people are fine playing ED, it must be something particular to your end or your path connecting to FDev servers.
yea the servers are drunk again, very drunk, and are constantly falling over, random dc - "just because", etc etc.. it is a nightmare..
ERRRRrrrrrrr, have you read the other post's this morning? At least 3 other posts all complaining about this, so it is NOT my end.
In 7 years of playing this game, i am fully aware that sometimes only a few players are affected, but the fault still lies with FD and not the end-user end.

I started having this issue early this week, not immediately but definitely after the latest update. First I could not even identify the issue because EDO would just hang (black screen no error message) after I was interdicted by certain players, but not by others, sometimes 6-7 times in a row within an afternoon/night. Then the same thing happened with the cobra/adder/python messages. I attempted to set up port forwarding, will check game option as well.
