Engineers Material drop alerts / tips on looking out for things?

I'd love if there was a way to add alerts for when items you are looking for get dropped.
Maybe even a material scanner utility.

Anyone got any tips on keeping an eye out for specific materials or is it just a case of blasting ships and checking the drops each time in the left hand contacts panel?

After a while you learn what materials are rare and what you need. A quick glance at your contacts tab is all you need.

Agreed with Xyience.
The only way I can think of to do such thing is to add labels directly on the radar, which would be extremely cluttered and unhelpful in the end, anyway.

Or better stiil use the quite outstsanding 3rd part tool 'EDEngineer' (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-to-track-your-blueprint-progress-in-realtime)

Won't help you find anymore, but it will help you see what you have ad what you need (Build a shopping list, see how many rolls on that Extended FSD range, works with materials and Data and you can have mulit Cmdr accounts on it. Takes a good 10-15 mins to do a once only setup, but after that it tracks you mats when you get them or when you spend them.

Singularly, THEE best add on in ED yet!! (Of course all IMHO :) )

Unfortunately i cannot take advantage of this as i play on Xbox. I am limited to my tablet with INARA and other tools when it comes to managing my materials. Thats why i have memorized most of the materials worth picking up.:D

This app alone is worth selling the Xbone and buying a PC for, Honestly!! ;)

Another proponent of EDEngineer. Like in EDDI, you can set max values in EDEngineer and have it give you verbal notification when you reach that amount. It will also tell you when your cargo/data is nearly full (if you set it up to do so). I also use it when scooping up unusual materials to see what blueprints they are used in and for planning engineering runs; if I want to make 50 G5 dirty drive rolls, I set that in EDEngineer and keep track of how much more of each item I need.

An nice in game solution would be that for any engineer blueprints that you have pinned those materials show up as blue targets on the radar and/or HUD.
