Material Trader

May be already discovered but just to toss this out there, the material traders are based on station economy. To dilute the level 4/5 materials I gathered I had to travel to 4 systems.
High Tech for Data; Refinery for low level elements; Industrial for manufactured items and I suspect extraction for lvl 5 elements as they are not offered at the refinery.

You can also use filters in the galaxy map. I've heard some people say they aren't working for them but I've used them tonight.

Partially correct I think as I was utterly confused! I learnt the error of my way after spending 20 minutes staring at the map wondering, what the hell. Why can I only see ONE raw trader...

• Material traders can be found using the new map view configuration ‘By Service’ option. This has a 40ly range and only shows traders that you have discovered.

I am guessing at some point EDDB will be our friend. There was some guidelines (as Southern points out above) about which systems have which trader but its not always rang true for me.

Regarding discovered traders, it's probably more accurate to say traders at visited systems, because my galmap was full of traders of different types, and I hadn't "discovered" any of them after 3.0 dropped. I don't even know if I've been to all the systems that showed up on my map, so perhaps this entire "only discovered traders show up" mechanism was changed at the last minute?

It seemed to be working the other way around for me last night.

I found an encoded material trader last night by filtering the map, traded some stuff and went away to do some engineering and then couldn't get the highlight to work afterwards when trying to show someone else. I was looking right at the system and toggling the filter but it just stayed grey.

I think this is a bug. If you save, quit, close app, relaunch then they come back. At least they did for me.

Can anyone please tell me a system with a encoded matbroker before I loose my mind? Trying to find a needle in the haystack navigating the galaxy with the Hotas, really start to **** me off...

Its not a bug - you have to have visited the trader/station before it will show on the galaxy map search :-

ocations material traders can be found are:
- Raw Materials Trader - Found at extraction and refinery economies, only trades in raw material found on planet surfaces and planetary rings.
- Manufactured Materials Trader - Found at industrial economies, only trades in manufactured materials.
- Encoded Materials Trader - Found at High Tech and Military economies, only trades in encoded materials.
- Systems also need to be mid to high security systems and have populations between 1,000,000 and 22,000,000.
Materials Trades will not show up in lawless and anarchy systems.
Materials Traders will not show up at stations that are currently controlled by a criminal faction.
Materials Traders will be unavailable when a station is damaged, under repair or put on lockdown.
Horizons is required to use Material traders.
Material traders will appear in the Human Bubble, Colonia and Pleiades regions at economies types listed above.

+1 on where are you?

Ray Gateway in Diaguandri, and
Rushworth Station in Pikum both have encoded traders.
They are also near the middle of the bubble.

They are both; industrial, and high security.
You can see material traders on the *system map* under the starport *facilities* where it lists docking, contracts etc.

So can we no longer filter the galaxy map for planets that are mainly industrial or military etc? I was trying to find a Mat trader last night by filtering for industrial economies and I had zero planets showing up on the map. Every planet was just grey. Used to be I could do this then go to the system map and check the stations for black markets etc... Bug or am I doing it wrong?

Am I right in recalling that Fdev said this would be updated to include ALL stations you had ALREADY visited before Chapter One dropped?

If so then my Galmap isn't showing any when I use the material trader filters? Or do I have to go around 'finding' stations/ traders all over again?
