BoxelStats
New version of BoxelStats is
here.
Before installing, you should delete
ObservatoryBoxelStats.dll
and
ObservatoryBodyCount.dll
from your plugins folder. The new one is just called
BoxelStats.dll
so it won't replace the old one, and wouldn't be able to remove BodyCount anyway. (It won't break if you don't delete them, but it'll be
weird when you have 2 BoxelStats tabs)
New interface looks like this:
When you first run Observatory after installing, it'll tell you to do a Read All. Let this complete before doing any exploring (there's an issue in Observatory where it will still send new logs while it's processing a Read All which can cause
some problems - this will be fixed in a future release of Observatory).
As you can see, you only get to see one boxel at a time in this interface but you get more information. Counts and averages for different body types, and for Terraformable / Landable / Atmospheric Landable too. Added an Average System Value field too - this is for comparitive purposes rtaher than estimating your existing data, and assumes all bodies are first discovered and that ELWs / WWs / AWs / Terraformables are all mapped.
There is a search function, so you can look up a boxel you previously visited. Start typing in the Boxel Name field and after a few characters the dropdown box will populate.
There is also an Export button. This has 2 functions - it can export all the known boxels you've visited with more detail than the older interface showed, and it can now also export a single boxel which will give a breakdown of the systems within the boxel.
At the moment, you can only export to the clipboard but I may add a CSV option later. When exporting to clipboatd the data will be tab-delimited and should paste easily into Excel or Google Sheets. When pasting in Excel, I'd suggest tweaking the format by doing the following (no idea it it works in Excel365):
- Hit Alt+H -> O -> E then on the Alignment tab, untick Wrap Text - this will stop the lines being squished over multiple lines
- Hit Alt+H -> O -> I - this will set the column width properly.
For Google Sheets:
- Staight after pasting, right click a column header (so A, B etc) and choose "Resize the Columns", and "Fit to Data"
I tried to get this data available in the interface itself but there's too much and it becomes cumbersome where there's a lot of it, and it still wouldn't allow searching / sorting etc.A spreadsheet is the better option.
Remember that the FSS Body Count includes stars so it won't match the sum of the planet data. I will think about adding stars at a later date but that's a lot of extra work for little benefit.
The interface will mostly follow Observatory's theme - except the datagrid which at the moment doesn't respect theming. I hope to fix this at a later date.
Settings for the plugin look like this:
Similar to before. Minimum Sys Count only affects what's exported. I'd suggest allowing automatic updates (but not beta). DateFormat expects a format with specifiers
like this
To install, grab it from
here. Close Observatory then double click the .eop or copy it to the plugins folder.
