Maverick loadout recommendations

Hey Commanders o7

I'm about to upgrade my Maverick suit for collecting materials. I have a preupgraded G3 with enhanced tracking and quiter footsteps. I am thinking about putting extra backpack capability (I suppose a must have) and not sure what else?
Usually I am doing settlements sneaky, only shooting if necessary. Having a Tormentor with noise suppressor and a Executioner. Upgrading the weapons later, first Maverick!
Is enhanced tracking worth to keep and quiter footsteps efficiently or is crouching quite enough to not been heard?

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Enhanced tracking extends the ID range from 50 to 100m and reduces the ID scan time from 1s to 0.1s
Quieter footsteps helps a lot - sure, you can crouch, but it's slower than being able to move at faster speed while still being relatively silent

one of my favorite loadouts for maverick is: nightvision, quieter footsteps, increased backpack capacity and reduced tool battery usage

Executioner with audio masking (outdoors)
Tormentor with noise supressor (indoors)
Improved backpack capacity - gather more stuff
Improved battery capacity - more power for tools and stay out longer
Improved jump assist - then fly around like Santa Clause on rooftops

Extra backpack is only useful when you're at the grab everything not nailed down stage, after it's a millstone. You can't replace mods so you're stuck with the 2 you already have, so choose wisely.

I second not having the extra backpack capacity mod. If you really want the capacity, buy an extra suit as once most of your materials gathering is done it is a wasted space.

Night vision and improved battery capacity for the maverick, and depending how you feel reduced tool battery capacity.

I would not do anything to that suit but work on a different mod mix, as above. After all, you have not wasted any mats on it - yet.

I'd say Night Vision is a must. I use mine in daylight as it highlights movement. It's a no-brainer for night missions.

Quieter Footsteps are more useful when you're right up close and need the stealth. I wouldn't use it for a scavenging build. My Quieter Footstep builds are used for theft and data upload missions and when I need to nip into occupied building to switch things off.

Never used Enhanced Tracking, but each to their own.

My two main scavenging builds are:

Daylight: Backpack, Battery, Jump, Sprint
Night: Night Vision, Backpack, Jump, Sprint

As you can see mobility is a key factor for my builds.

I actually have 5 G5 Maverick suits, each designed for different purposes; and a sixth G3 that's just waiting for some more Graphene.

^ This.

Keep the current suit for missions that require stealing things or doing things in occupied settlements and work on a new one for scavenging only.

The modifications are mostly more of a convenience thing. E.g. crouching is indeed enough to never be heard, but with quieter footsteps you can move around faster and don't have to worry so much about patrols turning around. Extra backpack saves you a few trips back the ship (not all of them though), but that will get less useful over time. The last Mav (out of three) I built is focused entirely on speedy job execution:
︎ Quieter Footsteps
︎ Enhanced Tracking
︎ Night Vision
︎ Increased Sprint Duration
Battery mods are imho a waste of a slot since settlements are littered with energy packs.

I second not having the extra backpack capacity mod

Unless you completely finished modding weapons and suits, extra backpack is useful to grab everything and trade them for the rare stuff (weapon components and the likes)

So, if i'd aim for a single maverick, that would be my choice of mods: nightvision, quieter footsteps, increased backpack capacity and reduced tool battery usage
For a 2 suit setup, the second mav would have: nightvision, quieter footsteps, sprint, increased battery capacity.
And i would use the first suit for restore missions and the second mainly for stealth missions, but i could be used for basically any mission that does not involve looting everything.

some of my own reasoning behind those mods:
  • nightvision - extremely useful for missions at night, but also in daylight especially when there are a lot of harsh shadows. Even during the day, NV makes it easier to spot movements
  • quieter footsteps - helps a lot in stealth missions, but also in any mission where you want more freedom of movement without unwanted attention (avoiding unnecessary scans for example)
  • increased backpack capacity - loot galore! especially in large touristic settlements (but not only) - 9 memory chips = 1 weapon component
  • reduced tool battery usage - maverick is a heavy tool usage suit so it helps more than increased battery capacity
  • increased battery capacity - useful in stealth missions where you may spend a lot of time outsides watching moving patterns and jumping from roof to roof, in which case it may be better than reduced tool battery usage
  • sprint - well, it can be easily replaced by bunnyhopping, but bunnyhopping is not that easy inside buildings, so it could be used instead increased backpack, especially in stealth missions where one might face a lot of running around.

My Mave has the following:

  • variable sweep wings
  • dual seat cockpit
  • 20mm rotary cannon
  • Phoenix missiles

ah crap, that was Top Gun: Maverick.

My Elite Maverick has

MAVERICK SUIT
︎ Extra Backpack Capacity
︎ Enhanced Tracking
︎ Improved Battery Capacity
︎ Night Vision

I could well change the tracking for some other upgrade, but it's convenient.

The logic of having improved battery capacity instead of reduced tool battery consumption, is that the latter is only useful when using the arc cutting tool, whereas the former gives the same effects as latter in respect of tool use. In addition, the former gives longer shield/NV/torch light.

A Maverick with IBC + NV is a good combat suit.

Steve

Torchlight consumption is insignificant
NV - i didnt quantify it, but it's not much.
Lots of jumps may incur a noticeable consumption
Suit Heating or Cooling may may also incur noticeable consumption (if spending a lot of time outside watching move pattern)
Shields take a lot and while i dont necessarily run shields unless i'm being shot at, i will flash the shields as cushions to prevent landing damage when jumping off the roofs

But nothing compares to tools usage, especially overcharging (iirc a normal mav battery can take 4 OC, increased battery - 6 OC, reduced tool battery usage - 8 OC)

So yea, depending on mission type, one battery mod may be better than the other one.

And while technically none of the mods are mandatory, the most used suit for my latest toon (the xb migrated account) was a store bought G2 Mav with increased backpack capacity (eventually superseded by a G3 mav with increased backpack and nightvision).
I went past G3 mav quite late since after getting the g3 mav with nv and backpack, my focus switched to upgrading weapons (and a dominator) to g5

It's pretty much appreciated that all of you guys sharing your points and recommendations, thank you very much, you're awesome!
Keep on discussing if you want, that helps me to decide which road I'm going.
For now I think I'm changing my plan and start with silencing my Executioner first, with audio mask and noise suppressor, I like to use that gun inside as well. Even though I have the Tormentor with noise suppressor, I'd like to have 2 silent weapons for indoor activities.

The general wisdom is to put audio masking on Executioner followed by increased magazine size, stowed reloading and scope and use it exclusively outside where it's range can be better used
And for inside to use a Tormentor with Noise suppressor, Increased magazine size, stowed reloading and stability

Those being said, i do have a Tormentor with Audio Masking, Noise Suppressor, increased magazine size and stowed reloading (but only because i already got it with audio masking from store)

I never found stowed reloading that useful, it takes too long; and for a sniper rifle, stability is more useful for a second shot, so my Executioner is Greater Range, Scope, Audio Masking, Stability. Perfect for long-distance picking-off of all the guards, or a single assassination target.

FWIW, my all purpose tool is an Intimidator with magazine size, greater range, audio masking and noise suppressor.
I have scope, because of the tightening (making all the projectiles from the shell strike closer together for more concentrated damage, with fewer missing), faster handling, and the two quietness mods.

As someone said to me on a stream "a G5 Intimidator with scope makes mincemeat of them if you get reasonably close to them. One shot shreds the shields, the next shot shreds the rest of them."

So it is a good gun.

For Maverick suits (both at grade 5) I went for a sneak-stealing/infiltration one: reduced tool power consumption for cutting and zapping, extra backpack capacity, sprint duration, quieter footsteps;

and a scavenging one, useful for dealing with other scavs at deserted facilities, impact sites etc: sprint duration, improved battery capacity (replaces the need for reduced tool consumption), jump assist, and combat movement speed.

I have one of those in the locker too. I think the game is buggy as the plasma doesn't seem to spread out very much with this new one. Seem to remember something about a bug making the spread getting tighter each time you get out of the ship.

The extra range is so that I can keep some distance from scavs or in CZ, while the mag size is to to reduce the running out of ammo in the same situation. Love the gun and use it indoors and outdoors to shoot toons in the face, but also for settlement raids, scavs and high CZ. It's good for everything except long range sniping.
