Max engineered jump range for a Sidewinder?

Unless you want to have the most painful journey ever with that PP heat management, i'm suggesting a low emissions+stripped down mod. You lose only like 0.2ly.
That's just my habbit of putting overcharged on every pp :D

Thank you. From my experience with my last journey, the 2nd size 2 slot needs to be an extra fuel tank instead of the Guardian boost (as much as I'd love to use it). The 2 ton fuel tank limits distance between fuelable stars. I'll also be adding ADS, DSS and heat sinks which will lower the range some also. From what I understand, I need a minimum FSD range of 34ly to reach Beagle Point. Hopefully I can get there with plenty of Jumponium in reserve for when I possibly get in a bind.

Thanks again.

For Beagle, yes. For Semotus you need 41.something. But afaik the routes there are all covered in scoopable stars, so I don't think you'll need an extra tank for that.
But I haven't tested long-range travel in a Sidey yet...

I'm curious if a boat load of Jumponium would be another option. I have no idea how many jumps I would need at 41+ to get out there.

To Quote EDSM:
Route to the Beacon, starting with the last system reachable by ~50ly-range ships without using jumponium-injection:
MYEIA THAA QI-B D13-0 - MYEIA THAA QI-B D13-1 (50.03LY)
MYEIA THAA UO-Z D13-0 - CEECKAEA QK-C D14-0 (56.10LY)
CEECKAEA QK-C D14-0 - OEVASY MA-A D0 (66.32LY)
OEVASY MA-A D0 - OEVASY NA-A D0 (53.7LY)
OEVASY NA-A D0 - OEVASY RG-Y D0 (82.68LY)
OEVASY RG-Y D0 - OEVASY SG-Y D0 (50.07LY)

So it's mostly J1 and J2.

Well, this would, probably, be the most stripped-down sidey in the Universe :)

Still I'd advise not to overcharge PP that much: G1 overcharge will give less heat, but still over 40% for the most essential systems.

From my experience with my last journey, the 2nd size 2 slot needs to be an extra fuel tank instead of the Guardian boost (as much as I'd love to use it).

In that case I would recommend applying mass manager instead of deep charge to FSD. This would lower the jump range a bit but improve the fuel efficiency greatly, giving fuel for approx. 2,5 jumps instead of 1,5.

2,5 jumps will in most cases be enough to get to the next scoopable star.

Compare:
this build with FSD booster with 40,5 max range and total 102

and this build with additional tank with 35,99 max range and total 210

Dont.. even.. start.. :x

(going the distance with engineered Sidey has been on my bucket list for long, but with Q4 and DW2 being so close, now isn't the time for that..)

Dude, DW2 won't start this year… And I don't think it covers all of my time anyways :D
I'm gonna wait till beta has ended and then pick up my alt, get the engineering done and head off.
I can take my time on it, doesn't have to be in a hurry.
Also, I have slightly modified my build: https://s.orbis.zone/nln

I know. But i have tons of other stuff to do in the bubble, after all i was away for almost a year. ;)
Also, i want to put my hands on the Q4 goodies when they drop after beta, so now just isn't the best time to go out there for a longer period. But i will do it, some day..

I dont see any reason why wouldn't they. After all, Cmdr Frawd Digger was back at DWE with Sidewinder. Unengineered. ;)

Because some people overestimate things... or get bored… etc. You know. The reason why people abandon expeditions in general.

Get bored.. to exploration.. to expeditions..?? I... i.. i have absolutely no idea what youre talking about. What herecy is this??
Surely if you commit to something, you will take it all the way to the end..? ;)

You may look at EDSM's statistics: some people get bored even during short expeditions :)

As for the small ships like sidey or eagle, they have even more restrictions: relatively small jump range, bare minimum of modules (i.e. no srv, no cargo etc.) and so on. For some people it might be quite frustrating to understand that they just need to change the sphere of activity, but the closest possibility to do that is 999+ jumps away ;)
