Maximum distance exceeded

Perhaps someone can explain that to me. I want to jump to a system which is 108.94 Ly away. My jump range with J3 FSD is 110.79 Ly. The route plotter does not accept the jump. What am I missing? Thanks

You can only jump 110ly because you've not got full tanks, your full tank range is actually less than 108.94ly. The route plotter only works on full tank ranges, you should still be able to select the system (rather than plot a route to it) and then jump there.

At least that's probably the case...

Not in this case, actually if I think about it not in any other case too. Route plotting is always available if the target is not farther away than 20,000 lys. If one wants to plot a route to a system that one can't reach because of insufficient jump range the route plotting would fail - it would not be unavailable at all.
For some reason the map thinks that this system is more than 20,000 lys away from the current position.
Relog and try again, if this problem persists file a bug report.

Good point, I should read the red text really and not just assume it says route plotting failed...

Selecting the system and jumping, ignoring the route plotter, should still work though.

Alright ! That was it. Thanks Commanders, that was very helpful.

I Successfully jumped to the next system and finally arrived at Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0).

There is a whole lot of nothing. Except for some galaxies. Like Andromeda. And a blue dot. Very faint.

Plotting a route, even if it's a single jump route, the plotter always assumes a full fuel tank.

As you have already figured out, To make a jump at your current actual jump range, you need to have the target selected directly.

It should be, that that is not the case recently. My Asp Explorer has a jump range of 34.10LY when the tanks are full, and a bit over 36LY when they are low. I have had times (since 3.0 dropped, but I am not sure exactly when) when I have plotted a route (with tanks full), the plot has worked, only for the FSD to tell me mid-way along the plot that the jump exceeds 5 tonnes of fuel. The only thing I can think of is that the route plotter 'assumes' I will fuel scoop at the calculated 'fuel star', but I, being a cautious Player, scoop at every opportunity, so then, at a 'long' jump, my ship is now too heavy to make it.

If I am right I would hope that FDev can re-work the route plotter to either always assume the tanks are full, or to clearly indicate the Player should not fuel scoop until they arrive at the designated 'fuel star'.

Generally, that happens to players when using the "Jet Cone Boost" option. The next jump may exceed your jump range, unless you scoop at the jet cone to boost your jump range.

No jet cones along the plotted routes, and (as far as I know) I don't have that option enabled.

This issue has only arisen since 3.0 dropped, but it may have been on one of the lesser follow-up updates.
