Newcomer / Intro Maximum distance for module and ship transfers?

I wonder if there's a maximum distance for module/ship transfer....
I'm thinking of going to Colonia and transfer several dedicated ships from the Bubble to there, so I'm asking this question just to be safe. I don't want to travel 20kLy and check it for myself....

Also, will such transfers cost more than the ships themselves? Will it also take more than 24 hours?

Damn, that's pretty long and costly. Guess I'll buy ships there or board a fleet carrier that will carry my ships to there....
Depending on the ships involved the Fleet Carrier might be your only option as not all ships are available in Colonia.

The first and only time i went to Colonia, I went there to unlock the engineers, just to have more pinned blueprints. In order to raise rep at each of those engineers you need to engineer something. Since I was going there in my fully-engineered DBX, I needed some other ship to engineer once I was there. What to do? Should I buy a ship in Colonia? Instead, I decided to transfer my mining Krait out there. It needed some work, and I'd be able to use it to gather the raw mats needed to unlock one of the engineers. It's been a couple years now, but if I recall it was 60 hours and over 100m to transfer it to Jaques. Each way! But it's only money.

As I made my way to Colonia I decided to stop off on the highway, at a place called Caravanserai. It's maybe 2/3 of the way there. I wanted to sell some data and rep-up with the Colonia Council for engineer unlocking. So before I left I whistled for the mining Krait. This way it would already be in transfer while I took my time on the last leg to Colonia. Otherwise I would have needed to wait the full 60 hours once I landed at Jaques. The bubble to Caravanserai leg was 43 hours and 98m!

As it turned out I beat my Krait by 6.5 hours, touching down at Jaques ahead of my mining Krait's arrival in Caravanserai. But it worked out great, the final leg of the transfer was much shorter and before long I had both ships in Colonia, the Krait and DBX. I then used the Krait to raise engineer access rep, while also improving it. When all this was done I then did those same steps in reverse, though now the final transfer leg was much longer. In all the transfer out and back was 120 hours and cost over 200 million. But I made nearly 600m in exploration data on the trip and anyway I have lots of money and nothing to spend it on, so for me it was just the cost of doing business. I make all that money so that decisions like this are easy.

Boarding a fleet carrier will be cheaper but you’ll need to know the owners schedule or you may find your self stuck onboard for weeks (unless you have a fuel scoop.) You’ll also only be able to take one ship, the one you’re using - you can’t leave a ship on a Carrier going to Colonia whilst you travel there in a different ship as far as I’m aware.

Apologies if you know these things, it didn’t seem that way from reading your post. If anyone knows me to be wrong about leaving a ship onboard a Carrier whilst using a different one I hope you’ll speak up, I’ve never used the Shipyard Module on my Carrier so if this module means you can I’m giving duff advice and apologise.

He can store all his ships on a carrier and they will travel with the carrier wherever it goes. Provided the carrier owner has activated the Shipyard (and Outfitting if he wants to bring extra modules as well).

Thanks for the clarification. I’m not a squadron or group member so never looked beyond the ship sales element but that’s a very worthwhile module to have for many players.

Thanks

I've transferred a few modules between Colonia and the Bubble - 61 hour transfer time, but not whole ships. I bought and engineered a Krait II and Orca in Colonia and owned a Type 9 for a very short time to help with a community goal.
You cannot buy Imperial, Federation or Alliance ships in Colonia, but the others are available.
Plan ahead what engineering you want to do on ships, collect the materials before you leave the Bubble, and then buy and engineer the ships out there. Colonia is a pretty area of space to spend time in. Do a bit of mining (Orca is pretty good at core mining), do some passenger missions from Diggidiggi which takes you around the Colonia 'bubble' sights and of course beat up on some pirates. Visit the world of death just 500ly away from Colonia and explore this regions of space.
There are a lot of neutron stars between Colonia and Sagittarius A*, so you can get there much faster than the distance in ly suggests. If you have a 70ly jump range exploration ship, you can make it in around 95 to 100 jumps. It took 117 jumps in the Orca with a 62ly jump range and luxury passenger cabin on board.
