Engineers mechanical scrap

Anyone finding it anyplace except Daves Hope??

I have spent hours now doing Encoded, degraded, and combat aftermath, USS and not found any. None at Mayes Chemical Plant either.
The "Manufactured Materials Trader" filter doesn't work. Actually, as best I can tell the only things in the SERVICES filter section that is working is Black Markets and Interstellar Factors.

To find a Manufactured Materials Trader look for Industrial systems using the filter and then look in the system map, and if a station has a trader listed then it will be for Manufactured Mats.

(High Tech systems have data / encoded traders, and Refinery systems will have raw materials traders.)

Mechanical scrap is a very common material, so you will get masses of it for any higher grade mats. If you can find a trader using the above method it will be much faster than trying to find the actual material. :)

Can't do this if the system is unexplored.

That said.. I was in a High Tech system that had the data/encoded trader but the services filter menu didn't work then either.

Are you trying to avoid 3rd party tools?

I use Inara to locate material traders. Galaxy->System and Stations->Nearest->Material Trader

Degraded Emissions, but it's RNG as to which low level mat you'll get. Fortunately there's no shortage of Degraded Emissions. If you prefer to get it yourself, shoot trade ships. I you don't like murdering innocents, smugglers count as trade ships.

I have been to Inara. That was how I got to the system I referenced above. Inara listed it as a "MATERIAL TRADER" but all it traded in was ENCODED DATA. Which BTW, in the Station Information lists a MATERIAL TRADER. So, since Inara depends on Players uploading information and the information is simply taken from their journals and the journal is simply recording ALL "MATERIALS TRADERS" as MATERIALS TRADERS without specifying the TYPE of material they trade, the Third Party Tools become far less useful. To find out what KIND of material the Trader deals in, I still have to go to the system and probably dock at the station, since the addition of the new exploration tools now show even the some 3000 systems I had already visited as "SYSTEM INFORMATION NOT AVAILABLE".
In the game there is the FILTER that still shows all those systems as being systems I have already VISITED. The FILTERS for economy, allegiance and such will pick them out even when they show as NSDA, But the filters for the various types of Materials Traders doesn't work.

Inara and other similiar sites only make educated guesses about this information, based on economies etc.

Systems that are listed to have double traders, will have only have one of them, we do not know until we visit those places. So to avoid this confusion, pick a station that only one sorts of trader and there should be less confusion.

You did understand that I was posting about the IN GAME filters.??

Ok. Finally found a Manufactured Materials Trader in a Federation Industrial System that was in Civil Unrest.

Had to set he Economy Filter to Industrial and then plot a Most Fuel Efficient route to a distant place. Found it in the 5th system I jumped into. The sad thing is that even though every system indicated both No System Data and Never Visited, I was not able to explore any of them and get data to sell. Quite irritating.

But I think I have what I need to get my DBX's into the 50+ LY jump range and fitted with Expanded coverage probes.

Once you find a trader in any station it is always good to bookmark them. I edit them in the map and put them in as to what kind of trade they market it. It can be a nice thing to have the traders listed in different areas of the bubble for future reference.

Way ahead of you. The reason I know that the last update screwed up the Filters is because I have a lot of bookmarks. That means I MUST have been to that system. But now that system shows up and NSDA but when I go back to it all the system info is there and I don't get to "explore it" again. Very Frustrating.
