memory leak getting out of control

Last Oculus update didn't resolve. Played about 1 1\2 hrs and watched ram slowly fill up. I was at 80% when I stopped playing.

Not just VR, happens here and my wingmate if we are in a RES for long periods.

Appeared in the Engineers update.

I have 32 gigs, a 6700k, a rift and a gtx 1080.

I can play about an hour trucking, then absolute freeze. The only thing left working is the mouse pointer.
Screen totaly frozen, on/off button frozen.

Only the reset button works. From reading around several forums about this issue, there seems to be at least 3 major issues here, only one involves oculus rift. The two others are ED memory problems and Nvidia 368.81 is        **g up the whole sauce.

So all these people have to talk to each other. It seems to be a major mess.

Let us be very patient.

I guess I got the same issue with my Rift. After around an hour low persistance suddenly stops to work in elite until I restart the game. I will take a look at RAM usage next time it happens.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue I had, so I'll describe mine shortly: When I started playing ED (in VR on Win7) the application stopped after a while with a low memory error message (though I have 8GB of RAM).
Fixed it by increasing the Virtual Memory (page file) from 200mb (I don't know why it was set so low) to 12 GB. Never had the problem since.
I don't know though, if there are problems when not running an SSD.
I also don't know if this is bad for the SSD :)

So I was away for like 3 weeks from the game. Today I Play and I get the Memory leak not even using the debug tool within an HOUR!!!
and at only 30% Memory usage of my 16 GB ram?!?!

Sound cracks and fps go down into the Basement...

I have an i7 6700 a gtx 1080 and 16 gb ram etc.. top of the line rig build for Elite in VR... but within an hour or less I have to reboot which is just     !

For reference - I do not see this in Elite with VR (CV1).

2600K@4.5, 16GB RAM, 980Ti. Windows 10 Pro.
Page file manually set to 4096-4096MB (min-max). Even with 32GB of RAM you want some kind of pagefile.

The only time i've had memory problems is with Chrome browser open and ARK Survival which seems to have even higher memory requirements than Elite. Chrome can eat a lot more than task manager seems to show..

Just noticed that the last Oculus update addresses "memory issues" https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/41414/oculus-sdk-for-windows-1-7-0-released#latest
Anybody know if this addresses OOM problem?

The above link is for an SDK update - not a runtime update. Did you try updating your SDK separately (i.e. is there a new Debug Tool version with the SDK update) ?

No, I haven't tried 1.7 yet, but will. That being said, I am doubtful the tool is the problem as Vive owners have reported the issue. As for reporting to the bug thread
note that Johnny from the QA team stated " we have all the information we need to address the issue" and that suggests a resolution may come soon.

Ahhh thanks - Id missed that post from Jonny

Had low memory warning once a few week ago and ive got 32gb ram. Considering i do 5-6hr stretches most nights its not that bad. It seem'd to stop when i switch to all ultra in game and 1.5ss on oculus debug tool. Mem usage goes up and above 13gb in windows and around 7.5gb on card - no low mem warnings for weeks tho.

Man you need to get out more
