Hi guys I have taken most of this from a post I made on reddit about the issues I have with the DK2, this largely sums up what I am having the most issues with in the game if you discount the galaxy map.
Most of my issues are with the menus. I can read the centre of the menu just fine but the further away it goes the harder to read, this doesn't help when a lot of the menus are on the left of the screen. In steam they have a VR menu that is curved around, I would suggest doing something similar for the front menus so they are easier to read. Curved monitors are meant to be really nice to use so why not use that in VR? I realise that the final version will be higher resolution but there are a lot of DK2's out there and people will want to have a go on them. Perhaps a profile for each type of headset would work better? There isn't exactly a big market to cater to and it would improve the gameplay experience immensely.
Ability to centre vision for left and right side menus - when you look at the menu sometimes to keep it up you have to look through part of the DK2 that is blurry because you need to look through the centre of the lens in order to focus on an object clearly. If you put the clear part on the menu item you want to see, it closes. I suggest a button that will say "when I let go of this button i will be looking at the centre of the menu" and it will stay up as long as you hold the button, then when you let go its set. I would also like to see a distance slider for the side menus, they seem quite far away and that just makes them harder to read. Alternatively a zoom button might help?
Larger font on supercruise timer and perhaps some other fonts on the main display, once again I believe a profile needs to be made or perhaps a slider on font size? I realise that the final version of the rift will be higher resolution and I will get one when it comes out, but that might be over a year away and they have already stated that they will not be releasing another development kit, even if the final version of the rift comes out next week there will still be a lot of DK1 and 2's out there being used. If there was some kind of menu or font customisation it would make the game much more immersive, currently I am having to play on monitor until I get a trade run worked out then swap to the rift to play for a bit, I also tend to overshoot my targets sometimes because I cant read the timer.
Other than that it is very immersive and I have an incredibly fun but ultimately frustrating time.
How are you all doing with it?
