Mercenaries of Mikunn - The Background Simulation and Colonization Test

Shouldnt the project be stopped until the major bugs are fixed bei FD? I mean it seems rather futile! There seems to be one bug after another!

Well, the project's main point is to figure out how the BG simulation works, and to find when it doesn't (bugs).

With the latest removal of Civil War Cool-Down for Dukes of Mikunn, yet retaining Civil War Cool Down with Law Party (3 days), it looks like we'll have to incite Civil War Critical again. On the other hand, it would be nice if the devs simply turned Civil War on, since we "earned it" already. Still on the 3rd hand, if we're serious about bug hunting, it's a good opportunity to see if the Civil War / Civil War Critical incitation thing works as advertised.

Assuming we go forward trying to get Civil War again, we need to gain Influence against the Law Party. The question is, what's the best way. We definitely need to run Missions out of HR 7327 for the Dukes of Mikunn to raise Dukes Influence. We need to lower Law Party Influence, which can be done by blockading / killing Law Party system authority vessels (at Gabriel Station). BUT we also need to lower Dynamic Commodities Influence, to minimize their gain against Law Party, otherwise, Law Party and Dynamic may go into Civil War, putting Gabriel Station in jeopardy of going to Dynamic, giving them 3 stations.

So, I'd suggest running missions out of HR 7327 for the Dukes, AND killing Law Party and Dynamic Commodities system authority ships.

In the other thread, Jerzy7 asked Brookes about needing to capture all the minor stations first.

We've been (or at least, I've been), running under the assumption we did need to capture the minor stations first, starting with Gabriel. This assumption was based on this post by Michael Brookes. But if you parse the post properly, he states we need to capture the minor stations owned by the controlling faction. Gabriel Station is NOT owned by the controlling faction, Dynamic Commodities.

In other words, we DON'T NEED TO CAPTURE GABRIEL STATION!

This changes everything. We don't have to worry about the Law Party Cool Down. We need to shift all focus on getting Civil War against Dynamic Commodities in order to take Friend Enterprise. I think we do this by gaining against Dynamic Commodities in Influence. We should continue doing missions for the Dukes of Mikunn in HR 7327 to raise our Influence, while attacking Dynamic Commodity ships (traders and system authority).

In summary:
- Forget Law Party and Gabriel Station
- Focus on Dynamic Commodities for killing
- Continue missions for Dukes of Mikunn in and from HR 7327

Edit: Giving credit where credit was due. Sorry Jerzy7.

hey that was my question. Grumble grumble...
The only problem is we maintain a lead on Law party but are falling behind Dynamic. So do we focus on Dynamic now and hope to get a civil war for friendship? Or try to put getting any station in system first even though it doesn't actually get us closer to taking the system. Trade I think will be a large boost to our influence.

Won't we get about the same Influence Boost from trade whether we take Gabriel or Friend? If that's the case, taking Friend has the added advantage of having 1 less station to take, and will also rob Dynamic Commodities of trade based Influence.

HR Dynamic gained the influence that Law party lost. It is wisible from your graphs.
We have to attack both factions at the same time (and hope it won't help some minor faction to suddenly rise).

Even if we ultimately trigger a civil war with Law for Gabriel Station (because the system is difficult to figure out and/or buggy), it should still help us. Us Merchants have been itching for a better way to help boost our influence in the system and controlling a station there will allow us to throw in our trade efforts. We're working on adding station data of surrounding systems so that we can provide optimal trade routes when this occurs.

I just delivered some Cargo from Hiraga Station to Kwatee for the dukes. .and got Influence in Mikunn.. for that 100% System...

Yup yup I meant that in three days when law goes off cooldown we are still much higher than them in influence so we can possibly trigger a civil war. I assume we need to reverse our falling influence and then build up to at least equal influence with dynamic to trigger a war for friendship. I think it will be weeks from the influence changes we see now before we are in that position. What I meant is two options... Put pressure on law to try to trigger civil war asap hopefully gaining trade influence to pull back above dynamic. Or go for the shorter overall route and focus on dynamic but in the short term no civil war for the near future.
Im not actually favoring one over the other. Both have merits so was wondering what our collective minds think.

maybe I am wrong, but...

I did a lot of commodity missions for the dukes today, I took them at all 3 HR-stations.
They were both bring commodity x to Kwatee and fetch commodity y.
They all turned out to be strangely rewarded:
-My status with the dukes was raised
-the influence-bar seemed to be at 100% !!!!
-some state notification i.e. famine down, boom up, etc.

So I think it's (still) buggy and influence is applied to Mikunn instead of HR.

Please verify fellow cmdrs and tell me I'm wrong!

Sounds like a bug, either in displaying the wrong Dukes system Influence, or applying the Influence to the wrong system. Please get some screen shots. I suspect his has to do with it being an expanded minor faction. I'd like to see a control experiment, done with any other faction not involving the Dukes of Mikunn. Say a Kwatee Union delivery to Sukua.

Someone needs to be the first to find all the bugs. That is us, lol. Its part of the point of the project. Look what I added to the very beginning of the first post. =p

From reading other peoples experiences with civil war I think its buggy too. If the Goons fighting in conflict zones cant get their influence to go up with their numbers I think we are going to be crying when we trigger a civil war lol

The problem is Gabriel has a civilwar cooldown.

Ticket it and pray.

I think I only had one mission From HR Gabriel - Dukes of Mikunn delivery Documents/data to Dukes of Mikunn in Mikunn. Where there were both systems gaining the influence.

Hi guys. Firstly I'd like to tell you all how much I appreciate the amazing effort you're all putting in to working this stuff out (and finding the bugs that need squashing :) ).

Now, to the point of this, tonight I completed a 'Kill Smugglers' mission for a faction with 98% in their home system (not Mikunn, a system far, far away that I'm based in) and on claiming the reward it showed the influence gain against another 3% system that they've expanded into.
Of course from this one example I couldn't confirm that the influence actually went there, rather than just being a display bug on the completion screen, but it could be something worth testing.

Keep up the good work.

here is the screenshot you asked for:
after delivering non-lethal weapons: lockdown?

Hello everyone,

Hungwell Hamburger was one of our first active members, volunteering contributing with chat etc. He suddenly became inactive a while back and I sent him a message to see if he was still interested.

Several minutes ago I received a reply that he died in a skydiving accident three weeks ago. It never really occurred to me when creating this group how to respond in an event like this, but I thought those of you who had played with him would like to know.

I don't want to just remove him from the list of members, but I will try to think up something appropriate.

That is really sad. I will pray for his family.

You should create a honored list for members who should be remembered for any number of reasons. He should be the first.
