Mercenaries of Mikunn - The Background Simulation and Colonization Test

If Brookes, said that we have to capture the minor holdings firts, then why dont we focus on decreasing the i.fluence of the minor factions with holdings Firts instead of HR Dynamics. Gabriel station perhaps with Law Party

He stated the minor holdings of the controlling faction. The controlling faction is Dynamic Commodities, so we need to capture Friend Enterprise first. But he also said going to Civil War will capture their most valuable assets, which means we'll capture Hiraga. Either way, we want to go to Civil War against Dynamic Commodities. Right now, they're in Boom, which means they can't go to Civil War yet. I doubt the Boom will last more than a few days, as we're not actively doing missions nor trading there, so there shouldn't be as much "boom resource." They don't even have any Seeking Luxuries. I say we keep doing what we're doing, attacking their ships should cost wealth (I would think), and definitely reduces Influence.

from that website: Hurting any other faction removes their influence and gives it to the number 1 position.

that would be the reason, why dynamics gained so much influence while blockading gabriel Station /law Party

Meh, I have to run away constantly from RES because I get attacked by 5 authority ships... I might be able to kill 0-2 before I have to run away with my Viper. I'm no combat pilot, but it's a bit frustrating to run away all the time. Should I shoot authorities somewhere else? Do you guys solo 5 authorities with a Viper?

my hint: go for USS-Hunting. Just fly with speed throttled to the minimum around the System, jump into that USS and kill whatever authority or dynamic-ship you encounter. OR Navpoint.
Both Options do not have that many Security Ships

I can manage up to about 4 at a time as long as they are eagle or vipers if anything bigger shows up the amount i can take at once drops considerably and sooner or later anacondas show up and I cant take them even one on one (im in a Cobra btw) if theres two people killing them makes it much easier but if im flying solo I tend to just buzz around in super cruise interdicting System Authority get less kills but is much safer also means you can drop into USS sometimes get 2 or 3 eagle authority in them for easy pickings if you take one out before they really get organised.

Or get on TeamSpeak and go hunting with other Mercs. Not only is it more effective, it's a lot more fun!

From a bad fighter in a Cobra (I can survive a fight if I have to, but will mostly run :p ), what kind of weapons do you pack your ship with?

cobra: 2x gimbal pulse lasers class 2 and 2x cannons class 1

fire group 1 the lasers group 2 the cannons

have shield charge cells on a seperate button.

I think the best combo with a cobra (best as in damage/credit) is 2x gimballed c1 beam and 2x gimballed c2 multicannon
Generally your anti shield weapon should be weaker than your anti hull weapon. Also, because your c2 multies use less energy, you can put 4 pips into systems, which will make your shields a lot stronger.

I go the opposite way - c2 beams, c1 Mc's. Allows you to keep in the game when ammo is gone. Needs quite a bit of pip mgmt though.

I found that c2 beams need too much power for the cobra to handle effectively. You really can't afford to miss with it and you need 4 pips in weapons.

I have 2 small beam lasers and 2 medium multicannons in my cobra. When I fight alone, I go after eagles and sidewinders first to reduce number of weapons fireing at me as quickly as possible. After that I go after bigger targets.
That way, if I am waiting for police patrols, I can survive till Anaconda apears.
If I drop in USS full of hostiles, I need to be lucky not to get shot in the back imediatly and lose my shealds. If that happends, I boost away till I get my shields back on and find weakest target.

I suggest we write about these things on our new Forum:)

As some of you know, I've been visiting systems around Mikunn to gather data and get a feel for the area. Ultimately, the goal is to gather enough trade data so as to provide our merchants with optimal trading routes.

While in Thosiao today, a system 79.07 LY away from Mikunn, I was interdicted by a pilot with loyalties to the Empire. We exchanged a few words before he warned me to stay out of the system or else he'd attack. The reasoning was that there were efforts to flip systems (probably to the Empire). Thosiao is already an Empire system, so either they want to solidify their holdings in the system or flip a surrounding system.

Thosiao isn't key to our efforts at the moment, but it is a development we should monitor. 79 LY isn't a very far distance. If the Empire starts claiming more systems in that general area, we might find it difficult to find trade opportunities.

I'm very interested in joining the Mercs. I mainly fly an Asp these days (it..can...do...anything) outside of trading, which I'm setting up my new Clipper for (adios Type-7; you made me a lot of money, but not sad to see you go).

A few questions:

1. Is there a joinable group in-game that everyone is a part of?

2. What is your stance on PvP (note that I haven't engaged any CMDRs in PvP yet, and it's not my #1 priority or anything, but some group PvP could be interesting come Wings.)?

3. Is there a website for the Mercs, other than this thread of course?

I did read the OP's and such, so forgive me if I overlooked any information that was previously posted (and 70+ pages is just too much to read!).

My CMDR name is Kiz Roka. I use TeamSpeak often already so I look forward to flying with ya'll. BTW, yes, I'm from Texas. :D
