Mercury And Polonium Found Together In Abundance, as well as other materials....

Even Though mercury is 1.7 and polonium is 1.1 there are Geology Fumaroles everywhere. Pick any of the Geology locations especially location 20

My material bank was full within the hr of both mercury and polonium.

Visit EOL PROU IW-W E1-3246 C 1

Then the planet MAGELLAN C1

Also keep in mind if you find a planet with crystal spikes and vulcanism the crystal spikes all have the top grade mats for that body plus you will get the regular stuff from the volcanic cones. Oh yes and biology will have the same stuff as volcanic sites but the bio sites are much more extensive so you will get more mats per site.

Or basically any other planet in the galaxy with the mats you want + volcanism.

You're not the first person I've seen say that a planet with volcanism will stuff your materials... bank(?), full, but it doesn't tally with my experience.

I'm relatively new (5 weeks), and I've only hit up maybe 10 biological sites and 20 geological, and between all of them I am between a third and a half full on the materials I've been targeting.

Am I doing something wrong? I just drive up in the SRV, shoot the thing, and 3 units of an appropriate material drop. On a good day, there will be 20-30 to collect, so at most 90 sum total materials, most of it low grade.

(Or when people say "one planet" do they mean "one planet with 20+ spots and farm every single one of them"?)

A single Site of Volcanism has upto 5 Needle Crystals, so a single Site can yield 15 G5 Elements.

IMHO you can get lucky with finding & shooting Metallic Meteorites but in general harvesting Geological Sites is far more efficient.

During the Colonia Microresource CG, I managed to deliver 13,274 Elements within a week that way (traded down via Mat Trader).
Many others tried to get their refill the classic way (some even via Mining) but quickly realized they only attained a fraction of those figures.

Only caveat is that some Sites just aren't very "user friendly", local SRV accessibility can vary greatly from site to site.

I don't think I've ever been to a volcanic site that only had 20-30 deposits, and bio sites are 3 or 4 times the size of volcanic sites, on sites with spiny crystals and volcanism it's almost impossible not to fill up on top grade material for that body. Of course I am talking about easily accessible sites, not ones on mountains and etc, they are a bit hard, nice flat surfaces with easy driving, that's what you want.

Weird, I've never had one that came remotely close to filling up on anything... Last bio site was very friendly, flat, and by the time I had finished, totally empty. Got about 4-5 grade 5 materials from it.

That matches my experience too, hence I'm confused at how some people manage to fill up...

I can empty a bio site within 15-20 minutes if it's good terrain. They just aren't that impressive 😒

The time is definitely worth it. Prior to leaving, I visited a Materials Trader and filled up my Selenium (the only G5 that doesn't have bio POIs - yet) and the other lower grade materials and then visited the sites mentioned in the guide. 2 systems have 6 materials between them! Great. I've got 150 of each!!!

I think the piece that's missing here is simply instance-flipping. You won't fill up on anything from scratch at one site, if you pick up everything you see and then leave. However you can pick up everything, and then log out to main menu, and then log back in, you will find that all of the resources will have magically replenished at the site. You can then drive around and pick it up again, and keep repeating until you are full.

EDIT: Yes, it's cheesy, perhaps even cheaty. But it works.

Must confess, I did that at Dav's Hope for a few hours, because I didn't have a combat-capable ship and I hadn't discovered how to find blown-up ships to scavenge with the FSS. I did try it once with a bio site but nothing seemed to happen. Reading around suggested they are one a respawn delay per-player and that there was no point in bothering?

There's no delay timer for instance flipping. The only caveat is that if there's someone else in that instance, it will keep the instance alive and you may return to find everything still depleted. If that happens, you can just switch to solo and instantly have everything replenished.

EDIT: Instance-flipping has been removed as an option for refreshing mission boards, and that had a timer-based system in it as well. That's a separate thing. ;)

To me it seems the RNG dice have different magical properties when it comes to material grades collecting. I know random is random but you can farm up the three highest grades available on that planet bio/geo sites but the more common materials lag behind. Those 4s and 5s can be tasty, sure, but it is those 2's and esp 3's that are your synthesis bread and butter.

True to my experience as well. I have 4x as much Yttrium as Arsenic, despite targeting planets with both. Thing is, the Arsenic has to share its slot with 2 other elements, where any needle crystals has got to be the top tier.

Anyone happen to know whether the material % affects the number of geo/bio drops with that material? Like if there's 8% Mn, 4% Ge, and 2% Ar, will they drop in that ratio?
