Engineers Meta alloy disappearing from cargo hold

Today I've traveled more than I have in the game nearly 3 round trips of 800ly that's close to 2400ly . I am trying to unlock farseer with a meta alloy but each time I've done the trip the alloy has disappeared from my hold. No interdictions just jump after jump I've submitted a report. But to get around this bug.
Could I buy the alloy leave it in a ship then buy a new ship make the journey to farseer then transfer the ship with the alloy would this work?
this is the first time I've tried anything with engineers and it's put a sour taste in my mouth about them really.

The heat damage suggestion is the only one I can think of either.

Don't think your idea will work. Firstly I don't think cargo is stored like that, but secondly you'd need a shipyard at the destination and if I remember rightly, the engineers' bases don't have them.

Have a think if you think heat damage could be it? If you like I'll make the journey for you (not this minute: in an hour or two) and give them to you in Open. Or, well, a private group like Mobius, possibly.
