You might find a FC that will sell you a tonne. Otherwise you either make that journey to Maia or travel another 300ly to obtain access to Elvira.
Well, when you do decide to make the trip I have a suggestion. It is something that I do when I make a "trip" in Elite. I grab a Diamondback Explorer (or other small ship, hauler works well) with decent jump range and hunt terraformables on the way over. Hawkes Gaming, and Down to Earth Astronomy have many videos on the subject, and Hawkes just posted a new money making guide that goes over pretty much all things exploration.
The reason you are doing this is for exploration data, it takes about 8 million in sold exploration data to get "allied" with a faction. It does not take much time to gather that 8 million in data once you hit a grove. You will need "allied" with specific factions to get invites for further engineers later on, so I found that it was a good habit to get into.

It was almost 7 months ago for me but I too did the meta alloy hunt runaround for Felicity, and when I did finally find one, I bought it from a random Fleet Carrier 500LY's away for over a million credits; at the time that was a lot of money and flying back with my precious cargo (in solo, I was worried about NPC pirates still) was worrying. Then I arrived in Deciat for the first time and discovered that half the Fleet Carriers in the system were selling Meta Alloys.
If this is just for Felicity and if you got the cash, just go to Deciat (in solo, don't go in open) and try the FC's there.

you do have to go to or near maia to get them for the closest sources
if you are trying carriers, that's usually a waste of time because its not usually for public, even if it says otherwise on inara.

I have cough it but millions it costs 
I can sell you one piece of meta alloys from my carrier. add me in game. I am commander Imo.Is there a trick to finding this ? I've looked up 6 systems so far and been to them with no Meta Alloy. I've traveled from 86ly up to 158ly I'm starting to get depressed.
