Oh, I still love metal, and if I had to pick one genre, it would absolutely be metal.

However, I've recently started listening to classical music, mostly on my radio. (Classic FM)

I've never felt so relaxed! For the last week, I haven't been gaming late at night. Oh no, I've made a milky brew, put the radio on, pulled out a book, and just lost myself in words.

I should have started listening long ago.

If you have Amazon Prime you should look at the free included stuff on Amazon Music, great playlists and stations to give you variety and introduce different composers / genres and a huge selection of some very worthwhile recordings.

I don't have Prime, but I do use Spotify, so I'm definitely going to check out what's there.

If you're a metal head, you have to try Mars from Holst's Planets Suite:

Mozart composed extraordinary musical pieces of sensibility

Tbh Mozart is viewed as something of the Coldplay of the classical music world by many "enthusiasts". Don't get me wrong, he was hardly incompetent, but his music typically boils down to "nice melodies".

It didn't stop his rondo alla turca being one of my signature piano pieces back when I played, and though only half composed by him his Requiem gives me the horn every time.

Beethoven conversely is harder to get into but his grasp of harmony was so damn incredible. When you scratch the surface and start getting a feel for it the genius is just flat out undeniable.

My fave is always gonna be Rach though. Just...thankyou for your contribution to music.

Good luck with piano concerto no3 though (playing it I mean - you, not me, I have no talent). Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini is one of my all-time favourites though.
