Metallic Meteorites - do they still exist?

i have found quite a lot, as well as meteorites. i would say more are found post 3.
i couldn't believe i found 12 meteorites in a area of 400 mtrs, this was on the side of a big crator:)

The area or distance is about your speed. If you don't move any faster than 10ms you get all spawned objects really close. And yes, the worse the terrain the more time it takes to get to them so flat areas overal gets you more rocks to shoot.

TBH, and I spent quite a lot of time on planets, it seems to be more random than before. Sometimes I get NONE in a single session, others I got several of the 3x packs. There is also the golden ones which also gives grade 4 mats so don't just go for MM. I even got polonium from outcrops.

It would be nice to see a rerun of the data collection for DWE2 that data is from the 2.0 era is it not?

I was farming Datamined Wake Exceptions for about 90 minutes last night, if that is what you mean? Can I help?

I found no change from the 2.4 drop rates (in other words, it's still extremely painful, even at distribution centers with long range wake scanner). I got 34 (I had one already) for nearly 2 hours work, and over 200 Atypical Disrupted Wake Echoes.

I meant Distant Worlds Expedition 2 ;)

But DWE drop rate is useful to know as well :)

No doubt... DWEs remain illusive and not at all in line with the other high grade wake based encoded stuff. Anyone in doubt of this ongoing scarcity need only compare their total "Wake Based" encoded data quantities to their DWE count.

Unless you have been specifically DWE focused, you will see a rather large gap between DWEs and everything else.

While farming mats i found that the elusive DWE's can be farmed from Private data beacons from Encoded Emissions signals.

It was far quicker than scanning wakes for hours, while gathering random data form the beacons during looking for High grade Emissions i noticed i was getting several DWE from the beacons.

Worth checking those just for the data you can trade at the encoded traders later and the DWE being a big bonus.

I am aware of them being a potential reward from scanning those private beacon in Encoded Emissions USS, but like all the other sources, this is totally random and DWEs pop up at about the same rate as they do anywhere else they can be found.

In other words... They are still rarer than all the other data you can also receive by scanning those beacons. That said, I still tend to drop down and check out Encoded USS more often than not. :)

Yep, and no more or less rare than they've been as far as I can tell.

Some times I find one, some times I find three or four, sometimes I find none at all.

Still waiting for the SRV wave scanner to get a much needed volume boost. Even with the audio options turned all the way up, the only time I can hear it is:

1. When it's my ship or cargo containers.
2. Have headphones on, volume cranked.
3. Am sitting perfectly still.

Otherwise, the mix of ambient sounds and the near-non-existent volume of the wave scanner are impossible to hear.

^^THIS!!^^ I just posted in the PS4 forum about the same problem. I'm not sure how it works on PC but for PS4 we have a separate wave scanner volume slider in the options. The problem is when you turn down the sound effects volume slider, this also affects the wave scanner. I think it would be better if the sound effects slider affected all sound effects EXCEPT the wave scanner.

It's not a placebo, metallic asteroids are spawned more frequently around craters. It was covered in a dev post back around the time Horizons was released; they gave tips on scanning and where players have a greater chance to find scan targets on the surface of planets.

WHAT?!??!?!?! NO!!!!! Man, I keep thinking I've figured this game out and then BOOM I see something new.

Good timing actually, thanks for posting that. I know where I'm headed to stock up on the raw materials.

When you land, land just outside a crater. Then, drive directly away from it. I've found loads of metallic meteorites this way.

Good luck.

lol, that's almost what I do, except I go into the crater. :D I can also say (anecdotally) that I find many more materials in craters. Metallic meteorites usually appear in threes, too, for me. It doesn't take me any longer to prospect in a crater than it does on a plain, and it's much more interesting in the crater.

Spawn rates in general are abysmal

Getting harder and harder to log in by the day

It's like playing whack a mole - you figure out a way to get/do something and then it's gone

Dropped into a system in Outbreak and hit a HGS for Pharmaceutical Isolators. Stayed looking for more for hours and hit nothing.

And yes, before you say it, I checked sys map to monitor if state had changed and logged in and out for two days

We got sold on the idea that the new Engineering system was going to be easier and spawn rates would be improved. At least that's what I thought.

Must have read or heard something wrong...

I'd rather have the old system back

Did anyone find any metallic meteorites lately? The last days I've spent several hours surface prospecting on different planets - one of them definetely spawned MMs before 3.0 - but didn't find even a single MM. They have never been abundant but I usually found a few per hour.
Have they been removed with 3.0? Or did I anger the RNGods? If the latter, what would you suggest to pacify them?
Thanks in advance.

They still exist but appear to be much less common now both in singles and triples. The upside is that many plain-Jane outcrops seem to be dropping a lot of high-level elements. o7

You heard/read right, it is just that your definition of "improved" is probably different from FDev's definition of "improved". o7

Gold colored ourcrop is far better.
A few times I came accross two of them lying next to each other... boy, did I get a lot of G4/ G5 drops from them.

Sometimes you get lucky...

I found one this morning, after 3 hours of driving on 2 different moons. This is far below my pre-BEYOND average, but this might as well be bad RNG.

Leo, probably bad RNG, I'm doing lots of planet driving since beyond and have found lots of them.
